Yes, see if you can find a few old episodes of Wagon Train on Sky before the weekend. They had the forming a circle bit of pat. They might even have some spare wagons they can give you a loan of. Also a good idea to have the U.S. Cavalry arriving in the nick of time just at the end to thwart Alasdair so that it is his scalp that is collected other than yours.
Final tip practice the following phrases:
1 It's quiet too quiet (This is followed by one of your men getting an arrow right in the junction of the braces
2 There ain't no Indians within 20 miles of here.
3 Don't worry Injuns don't like to attack at night. (Neither does Alasdair cause the pubs are open).
4 We'll be safe when we reach the fort. (Sure sign the garrison has been wiped out).
Do all that Nigel and you have Alasdair on toast.
John
P.S. While on the American Indian theme, I am also willing to disclose how Hunter picked his nom de plume "Spotted Dog."

I would expect Alasdair has maxed out on Dragoons (2 bases per BG) and commanded shot. He will pick on one end of your line and shot it away with muskets and guns then push his average horse through the gap and turn you over.

Form a circle Nigel - that'll fox him
Hunter
didnt work for RBS last year...
or i could deploy right on the long edge so he cant technically get a flank... does that means he purses off board giving me 1pt per BG?

RBS wasn't so much a circles as a pigging mess of lead milling around the table edge.

I seen it cos I was on teh table next door.

To be fair it looked okay by the time the HM hit and it was some bad luck that seemed to out do the good doctore.

You should've heard his language though - proper not doctore

I'm not sure we want to know. Hopefully a course of antibiotics will clear it up.

That might be interesting cos he hasn't got a clue

Having said that keen posters will note John's not terribly modest avatar. Perhaps this is a clue as to where he really sees himself as a table top general. Look out you Britcon hopefuls, Napoleons best is in town

I couldn't really say Nigel but if he was, those would be two of his more endearing attributes

Those with agreed challenge games can start when they like on Friday and must finish by midnight along with everyone else. Everyone else will face the usual random lottery based on who's arrived when you put your name in.[/quote]
Hi Nemesesers
What time are you looking to kick off your games? Richard and me are hoping for a relatively early start (1600 possibly).

Hunter, what about your lucky My Little Pony toothbrush? You know what happens to you in competitions when you forget that!

I'm not taking my little pony (no space in the car) so we won't need its toothbrush.
BTW posters a cunning trick to deprive John of his wargames powers is to deny him access to the fuel of his choice - diet coke

Without his daily potion he is as bereft as Samson wis once Doolalie cut off his hair. So to the plan ..... we only need to pretravel the route from Perth to Manchester early Friday morning and guzzle up every can/bottle of DC on the way. Seemples.
Option 2 is to spike his whisky with H2O.
