Hi Bob
The top 3 for 15mm FOGAM were:
Pete Dalby
Myself (Taylor Robert

)
Graham Briggs
Thanks to all my opponents this weekend and to the organisers. A great weekend as usual and I enjoyed watching a few of the other rulesets as all my games finished early.
Rob

And congratulations Pete ,we are going to have to work hard to prevent you winning all 3 majors this year
Thanks David - but I suspect Britcon will prove to be a bridge too far. I will be leaving the Mongols at home and will be bringing something that hasn't been out of the box for a while. The toys don't like it if they're not allowed out occasionally. The Aztecs had their run out last year so it's someone else's turn. Maybe something Taylor Robert and I have been chatting about recently?

Thanks for all being so nice to Bren this weekend - Im not sure I managed to impress him with my virtuoso performance ........
I think I did better than that in my first ever DBM tournament 12 years ago. more practice needed!
when did you say Oxford has their weekend games?

He seemed very impressed by your ability to lose large numbers of bases before he'd lost any Paul! I hope you both had fun and I look forward to seeing you again soon.

I shall see if I can organise the time...
Bren was very impressed by my ability to kill my own troops. Our exploding elephants particularly amused him. The one time I had control, lost impact, 1 on the death roll, leading to opposing elephants (that had been charged) breaking through into the flank of a 6pack of lancers. which died.
I had a look through my old lists last night - and I have never used an army even vaguely like the one I took this weekend. I have no idea what possessed me.
lessons learnt about V2
crossbows hurt
LH cant do as much
you have a lot less room to escape
and most importantly - I dont really know what Im doing
So Britcon next....

Fortifications?
Maybe/maybe not?
Mr Briggs had 11 of the things at Roll Call.

well I thought I had an idea of what I was doing under V1. V2 has shown that no, I dont.

the luck was not with me - I hoped having Bren roll dice might have shifted the dice gods in my favour. but no.

And they were the most useful 33 points in the army. Having the double benefit of protecting the Ming army - undrilled but with some highly match up sensitive foot - from bad match ups and cutting down the options for where the enemy strike troops could sensibly deploy.

Hi Tim,
First time I'd played this year for a variety of (very tardy) reasons. Had four thoroughly enjoyable games (thanks guys.) Predictably indifferent results, my half-baked theory that most opponents can deal with some artillery, but most can't deal with a LOT of artillery proved to be pretty unfounded! Regardless though, I came home so enthused I sat up drinking endless cheap wine until 2am on Sunday evening while planning next year's army. It's going to be spectular (if uncompetitive.)
Oh, and some of my enthusiasm has rubbed off on Sylvie. She's just ordered new figures to paint ready for next year, in what will be possibly the most heroicly romantic FOG army ever tabled. But that's another story ....
Ian.
