The minima for the option is under 550 points including 2 TCs. The option as amended in the Errata does not require you to buy any troops from the Later German States list. Is is meant to be a restrictive option, the army fits into the theme historically, but not if it's a standard western P&S army.

Next year we should maybe have a special prize just for those players who win all 4 of their games...

Is that win as in break all their opponents armies, or win as in nurdle a few more points than their opponent?
(The ghost of DBM "discussions" past rears its head once more ...)

Seconded. The list choices were really well thought out.

I played the Tercio pool and thought the scenario design made for a great set of challenges and some exciting games.

The advantage of a competition like Derby is that you can include an obscure theme like the Tercio one because teams can collaborate on putting unusual (auto complete suggested unusable there!) armies together. I wanted to do the Tercio theme because they don't get seen very often but do look impressive on the table.
If I were to do the 30 years war theme again I would consider including a minimum number of mounted regiments, probably 3. I thought the horsey theme worked well with 7 different armies out of 8. I had to think hard what to use as a number of armies had their plus points but they all had drawbacks too. In he end it boiled down to me wanting to use my Poles in some form.
Now is the time to start thinking of next year's themes. Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

Thank you to Kevin for the organization.
Thank you to Ray and Keith to welcome in the October team.
And thank you to all my playing partners.
Denis
And one suggestion for a next year's : A landsknechts pool, mini 24 bases of landsknechts (mini 2 BG)
