On Rommel actually.
As for the army layout, that kind of went out the window. on that difficulty I don't have the prestige to really plan out a historical composition, I have to adjust to each scenario the best I can. Rommel was actually a bit much. With the patch changes the entire vanilla campaign is incredibly tough. Wouldn't do that again it's actually nota lot of fun. I'll do more of a nice setup in other campaigns, I'm not sure which I'll do next.

Erm… what exactly is Rommel difficulty?
And I wasn't thinking about a historical composition… I just mean which kind of roles you assign to each part of your army. It could give me more insight into your strategy. :-) You know, I like to see how other people organize their army and which tactics they use. Your use of the german navy in Norway, for example, was quite interesting, with the landing on the shore just west of Namsos. I think I'll try something similar the next time I play it.

BTW: Just finished watching your France AAR. Well done again. :-)

If you manage to win the main campaign on Field Marshall difficulty, three even higher difficulty levels are unlocked.
Those are called "Rommel" "Manstein" and "Guderian".

On Rommel you don't get the experience malus that you get on Field marshall, but you have only 50% prestige.
On Manstein every enemy unit starts with +5 strength, so 15 instead of 10 or 20 instead of 15.
On Guderian I believe you have to finish a scenario in 5 turns less than normal.

So as you can see I'm playing with -50% prestige.

Can't wait for the final battle in Moscow! Should you lose, where do you go? Baraginton or D-Day?

D-Day is no longer an option. Great Britain surrendered.

Nice one but as you said you took really quite some losses. This reminds me of my attempt of conquering the USA. I managed to pull off a MV on the East Coast but my core got badly decimated so i finally got trashed in the next scenario. I hope you fare better. :)

Nice one but t was very very close. The trick with the lure really worked well tho you the price you paid was high. Good luck with the last scenario.

Congratulations on finishing the campaign even with a little cheat. :) Nice series of AARs. The USA missions are a living hell. I personally failed in the Middle West already and that was only on field marshal (or maybe even general i can't remember anymore it's a while ago).

Well, Herr Leutnant, I would not characterize using the maximum prestige cheat as a little one.
I just finished the West Coast scenario with a DV on field Marshal yesterday. My forces were extremely heavy in artillery, and I purchased a couple Wirbelwinds to offset the ridiculous numbers of AI air units. I think you had the wrong force make-up to do the job on time.
You need massive amounts of artillery to reduce entrenchment and force surrenders quickly. I would use 6,7 or even 8 artillery against the most entrenched positions. The US Flak is extremely powerful, making your bombers of limited use.
I had just two Tiger IIs since I had limited prestige, but they both had movement heroes. W/o Panthers and JagdPanthers to lead the way, I believe your massive tank force was just too slow to finish on time.
I would hope you would try the scenario once again with the proper mix of forces. I think you will see a big difference.

I had exactly this mix. didn't work for me. I tried this 20 times my friend.

Well, actually you did not.
I re-checked your video and you used 2 Maus, 6-7 TigerIIs and No towed artillery at all. Your Luftwaffe was the same size as mine but top of the line. Something I could only imagine in my dreams.
Re-watching your ponderous forces plod slowly across the plains, it is obvious you will not arrive in time. You do not need all that armor but you do need more artillery and faster units. I say again, use some PantherGs and JagdPanthers. The Maus especially is useless in this scenario.
You need massive amounts of artillery and some Flak to deal with the US airforce, something you did not have either.
Check my set-up, do something similar, better quality but with some speed. With the prestige cheat you can easily replace any losses.
Follow Napoleon's advice and value speed of maneuver above mass. Check my progress each turn compared to yours and you will see the time you can save.
