Blame the organisers! You played me with the same army at that competition! We both played Pete and got 1 point between us!!
Indulging in a bit of the 'Rob Taylors' here!!

It would be bad form to blame Pete (and highlight how much better he is)

Good to see you booked in Shaun and hope you have a better Britcon in 2013. Just going back to Phil's 'bunnies' post though....and with apologies to Shaun.
Shaun - Ancients 2011 - 1st of 36
Shaun - Medieval 2012 - 13th of 32
Tell me again which is the tougher period?
PS - and thanks to Tim & Bob for fighting my corner - much appreciated gentlemen.

You're all bunnies if you can't win it when its a single A&M period. And that doesn't include you Ruddock as you had to share your prize.

I have finished 1st or 2nd in every game of FOG I have ever played in while my opponents finish either last or next to last.

I'd have thought that the result from the last European event would technically place "above" the last UK one ...?

Interesting definition of winning
Most people think its you scored more points than ALL the other competators at the event

Good move Shaun - I just hope your opponents play to win, rather than playing not to lose. Its a long way to go not to have fun.

I have to say that "playing not to win"is not something you could accuse Dave of. Allowing ones Heavy knights to be charged in the rear in order to win the game has got to be one of his more inspired moves(killing my generals wasn't but at least he was trying to win)

I remember watching a part of a game two years back where Oliver and Pete were going hammer and tong to win with about 6 generals killed leading BGs - if either had sat back for a 10-10 they MIGHT have stopped Shaun winning but there seemed no concept of playing not to lose.
As for Phil, if ever there is someone who beats his up and at 'em approach I don't want to be on the receiving end...

As this is Shaun's 3rd consecutive visit to Britcon I'm sure he knows what he's letting himself in for - better hunting this time around Shaun - although I think your Swiss would do rather well on this year's smaller tables in the Medieval pool?

He could always come out with us for a drink on Friday and Saturday. He'll have fun. The usual crowd is Charlton, Stewart, Ruddock and me. We've all played to win, and won. Its just can he keep up?
