Civil War in the Western Theatre

Must respectfully take issue with Possum's statement that all but Northern Virginia was a sideshow. There are a number of important Civil War historians who think exactly the opposite; that the Western Theatre was the more important one and that Lee's and Davis' fixation on Virginia contributed mightily to the Confederacy's defeat. J.F.C. Fuller said this decades ago and Archer Jones is a more recent advocate. Don't know if the CEAW system would work well in Civil War but the Civil War was a very wide spread Strategic war. The Confederacy alone was larger than western Europe. And, to give an example, the Confederacy made the first use in war of railroads to concentrate troops from across a huge area for the surprise attack on Grant's army at Shiloh.

Battlefront released a patch for SC2 that allows to play in the Pacific (worldwide). Is it something we may see with CEaW or as an another game in the serie?

GoA is light years ahead of anything CEAW could do for WW1

No its not. GoA is ugly and has a bad interface. Frank Hunters games always been like this. Still waiting for a strategic WW 1 game that will be nice and playable

Wwhat I suggest...

With SC WaW and the SC Blitzkrieg 1.08 patch out the CEAW designers need to make decisions where they want to take this game engine. I suggest the following sequence:
1. War in the Pacific. Important theatre of WW II. Needs to be included in any future expansion plans.
2. Cold War until ca. 1960. Logical extension of WW II. New front lines.
3. World War I. The beginning of it all. It was a world war, guys! It was not limited to the trenches of the western front.
I am also hoping for a refined game engine to allow for smaller scale wars. New maps, new units, more diplomacy options,...the vision that I see is a Hearts of Iron that is actually playable within the limited lifetime we have available.

I would be very interested in an expanded version with two theatres - Europe and Far East - connected in a world war. You could then switch between maps, and units could go from one to the other using the loops. If each Map were the same size as what we have now, we could also slightly scale the W-E up so as to include more N-S and make the Atlantic the correct length, because the Far East would probably need that space. Add in a few new features, graphics, diplomacy and its perfect.
