I fully agree. I've tried to do my best to keep the detail, but it's impossible in some cases. Yesterday I despaired with a T-26. The way rezaf do, through a tool, he's the perfect way to apply a camouflage.
All of us who apply textures using 2D paint programs cannot compete with that.
I hope one day that tool will be mad available. And knowing rezaf and his commitment to this community , I think one day it will end up be.
I wonder what kind of algorithms he's using. Although I'm not good at mathematics, I love to know the principles.
Advanced users of Photoshop,GIMP or similar programs can use their implemented "apply texture" tools for awesome results. I could dig it up as I have the last Photoshop CS5 and use GIMP too but there is simply not the time for "everything"...its for something why humans work in teams...everybody has its specific resort and can do stuff reasonably quicker than other peole doin other stuff

As for soviet units..the overall number will be relatively correct but I wont bother with their specific names as there are simply not enough sources in german, english or spanish language wtih complete unit lists and division numbers...and Iam afraid this would be more work than one man can pull out within 2-3 months which is the goal on this project cause I wanna play this beast as much as others and not getting lost in irrelevant details which are not important for proper gameplay
Thats the point ! Naturally we have enough sources also for the soviet troops, but you must read some more russian literature. If you have a question - I will answer you some things if you need it. I can read and speak russian language. Also we have many new good german books in the last 5-6 years, which evaluate the historical sources of the Soviet Union in an outstanding detail.

Sure. But the main issue here is the small size of the object and the size of the texture.

So lets get on with some more serious stuff and stop the childs play ....
Panzercorps East presents:
The SS Divisons who fought in the east. These units are given when due and can not be bought...if they are destoyed they are gone so better watch out for them
12 SS Hitlerjugend isnt here as It wont have a soft part...
4 SS Polizei Grenadier Div isnt featured as it somewaht never was a full strength Div...still thinking..maybe I add it...dunno...these mini icons are a lot of work to make sure they can be seen when so tiny and adding them to the unit icons is even more annoying
1-7 SS Division will have a 39/40 model and 43 upgrade
9-15 SS enter in 1943 and are already 43 models

you have no idea how much work it is to add these icons

..Iam not considering doin it for the russians and only doin it for german ss, grossdeutschland, and some air wings in order to detect them at a glance on the map (and some immersion...granted) as these units can not be bought and once lost they are gone..as well doin if for garrison infantry cause it only can move 1 and has to be transported by rail or move along roads (they cant go thru woods, bocage etc.)
imagine I add icons for russian units just to let them get chewed up in the first 2 turns of Barbarossa...a lot of work for nothing...Iam no masochist
and btw only icons with very basic desing can be scaled down that much and still they have to be reworked totally in order to show up corresponding to the original cause this is no HD stuff

...try it...their scale is 24x20...
perfectionism is great but I want to get this done before I go into pension..LOL...and if the map is overflodded with icons player wil loose track ..I dont think it would add more immersion but cause more confusion even if the idea seems tempting

just like to say that the campaign looks excellent.regarding units on the eastern front SSI war in russia 2 had a good editor which enabled you to edit or view the units in the various campaigns which may be useful to you for naming the units in your campaign the game is available on many abadonware sites.you may need the Dosbox program to run though as it is quite old.A Gary Grisby classic from the early 90s.

oh..hey..thnx..going to give it a shot...for playing
Regarding the german forces I have things pretty organized already and for the russians Iam almost there too...it never will be perfect but its a game isnt it ?

thnx...I really hope to be able to create a very challenging setting embedded in the historical background where the player can actually win but only by a whisker and only if taking always the right decisions..this way I wanna make sure long term replayability and motivation...

PANZERCOPRS EAST PRESENTS THE "LUFTWAFFE"
These units carried the main weight of the air war in the east + a few famous uniqe ones who enter pretty late and are mainly meant for immersion
as high tech german fighters were of low production and can not be bought.
Due to simplification I choose I emblem of each Wing even if the various groups had their own shields.
SKINS BY: Bebro,Via Patet and...I DUNNO..I downloaded so many skins by now that I started loosing track cause I organized them by country and not by creator. If you find a skin made by you and you are not credited PM me and I will add you instantly to honor your work.
UNIT SHIELDS: Chris10
FIGHTER WINGS

TAC WINGS
UNIQUE WINGS NO UPGRADES

Nice job on those. I'm curious how the low production feature will be represented in-game.

Yes, nice planes.
Any chance we'll see some extra Soviet equipment too? Say the lend-lease aircobra?

bebro wrote:Nice job on those. I'm curious how the low production feature will be represented in-game.
very simple...units can not be upgraded into Tiger,Tiger II,Elephant,Nashorn,Brummbär,Jagdpanther,Jagdtiger,FW-190 D9,Me-262,Tah-152,Do-335,He-162 cause these are all NOPURCHASE..they are given as unique bonus units. They can be upgraded sometimes within their own Regiment/Brigade for reasonable price (example Tiger of 502nd Heavy Tank Regiment upgrades into 502nd TigerII).Upgading from one bonus unit to another is always possible as a selective upgrade is not possible due to enginelimitations but the cost is very high as the units are a different series..
however..if people wanna cheat they simply type prestigexxx and go but I think it would destroy the flair and undermine my whole concept which I havent totally revelaed yet..I admit

, but I can say that I try hard to create a setting where the player faces a relative exact scaled size of russian forces in order to understand the problem the Wehrmacht was dealing with after the lend lease really took effect and the russian industry was pulling out more and more cheap and quick-made equipment made by forced labor (those who didnt work did not got food stamps) while mass conscripting division after division riding US trucks, wearing US made uniforms and boots while eating US made canned food...Until today It is totally hushed up and ignored in Russia what the impact of the lend lease really was and those who studied the original contracts and deliverys will be gobsmacked about the sheer amount of material (over 500.000 US trucks, over 2000 ! locomotives) which in fact were responsible for keeping up the russian logistics in the war industry otherwise the factorys would not have been able to produce these amounts cause where there is no transport there is no production...as a comparison the russian production of locomotives for 1941 was 90 !!..same goes for class A plane fuel..Russia had oil but was unable to refine the fuel needed for their air force just like the arabic countrys today produce oil but have to import fuel as they dont produce fuel...Literally all class A plane fuel from 1942 onwards was US delivered and the list goes on and on...
I try to give the player the possibility to really find out if these obstacles could have been overcome by the Wehrmacht or not...of course only as far as this is possible in an abstract hex wargame

Great job, especially the implementation of the SS-Eiheiten is great. I watch almost every day on your job, but I rarely leave a comment time. I think it goes so many other people like that. So Do not be discouraged. For my bad English, I beg your apology.
