Excellent! Now let's find a way to avoid the posibility to restart a turn. Or at least if someone does it a way to know he did it.
tks!

I left a comment on the Comp Cup link. Before you start any game just mention it to the opposing player, it is illegal and can not be done. I have even gone further in the Companions Cup by saying, in round 1 it is still ok. However in round 2 if a player does it, they automatically lose the game

Yes i agree with you about the whole rear charge situation. Cavalry should only be able to do it if to the side or rear at the start of the turn as this would be much more like the moves ancient cavalry would be able to pull off.As for the restart cheats well they are out there and they know who they are

There probably is no way to stop someone crashing their computer to get a better result but maybe a little message to indicate they have done so and if its done more than x times they forfeit the game.I used to have a lot of problems with my old computer crashing by itself and noticed when i got back to a game i was recently playing it virtually started everything again.I think this has been fixed but not the ability to restart.
Cheers Turk

Hi Turk, Unfortunately yu do not even need to crash the computer. Just shuting the process of the game from the tas manager of windows will do it. Sucks......

Well if those are possible cases it needs to be rbought up with Slitherine. If the player crashes the computer on purpose then there should be something in the sytem to automatically save the game. This would help if there is an accidental crash, through no power, fault, nature etc.

This would explain how some players seem to get very unusual results. You can very nearlly pick they have done it when it comes to a crucial part of a battle especially. Now a way to fix it should be A save option and not the ability to restart the game should be programmed in.Then again honest players would never do it

In the late 90's there was a game called Master of Orion II. It was pretty high tech for it's time and VERY competitive people on MP. I forget how you did the actual maneuver to make the bug work (as I never tried it ...too scared I guess). But when you did it, it would make you get the Research you were researching OR the Battleship etc you were building the very next turn. No matter if you still had 20 turns left (took a while to build those suckers) on the Research or Build screen.
No big thing right...Every game had some stupid cheats in it in those days. BUT,

a screen would come up and say "PLAYER X HAS CHEATED BY (whatever they did)....
Take it from me, it only had to happen every 6 months or so (new guys would try it once in a while) and the game was MUCH better for it.
What I am saying is...IF they can do that in the 90's, they can dang well do it now!!
And no offense to anyone as I believe you have your own sense of honor but I will not play Old Warrior (who is a very good player anyway) as my sense of honor differs. But by coming out and saying you believe it is fair is honorable in itself...so thank you for being brave enough to say it (a LOT of people wouldn't have.) I guess I will go back (aaarrrgghhhh) to watching the replays again (sigh).
Good thread guys!!

Good news about the restart:
Iainmcneil replied my message:
"
we already have this and the server is tracking it. We are using it in BA and reporting to players and have seen it very effective in stopping any misbehavour. We will soon be turning it on in other games. We'll announce when FoG has it turned on. Expect it soon!"
Im looking forward for this fix
Cheers!
