I noticed that there are no cities/rail etc. between Danzig and Stettin (to the West). This is a potentially important staging area--were there really no rail lines through there? This can have an impact in the early game, as the German may want to rail away some of those units west of Danzig, since the main assault usually is delivered further south.

Just a thought, and probably not possible, but...The changes we are making were to better simulate actual railing of troops in places with bad rail systems or differing rail widths. Much of western Europe had extensive rail networks that would allow railing of troops from virtually anywhere, as was possible in the previous scenario. Is it possible to make the new system with designated rail depots only operate in areas like Russia and the Middle East while allowing railing from anywhere in places like Germany, France, etc?

I don't think that's necessary because with added rail depots you can rail from most areas in Germany and France. I added Limoges in France yesterday to fill a gap south of Orleans. In Germany I might add Kolberg to have rail cap in western Prussia.
Game wise I don't think this new rail rule will affect the play much. Germany will most often be able to rail from a location in central or western Europe. If not they can move 1 turn to a city and rail from there. So it's not like the units are stranded for several turns before they can rail.
We're maybe not there completely regarding all rail depots so please make suggestions if you want to have them to show the natural staging points for units besides the big cities.

I can always add Kolberg

I am not a big fan of adding a city everywhere on the map where there might be 'a need' to dislodge. Yes rail network was dense in Western Europe but was it so dense to move several corpses everywhere?
I do not see a need for any new hubs e.g. in Scotland - this area is rough and you'd need some time to depose a corp sized unit to the very North. But I'm not the subject matter expert so maybe somebody with knowledge tell us how many rail lines are there to the very north end of Scotland?
For Germany it is now possible to get to a rail point within one turn so it does not make a sense for me to add a city e.g. between Gdansk and Stettin. There are many points like this are we going to add a rail hub to every hex where you cannot rail from instantly?
