Hello everyone - recruitment is tailing off a bit so what I want to do (unless there are howls of protest ) is set an upper limit of entrants for this competition at 32. So there are just six more spaces to fill and that will give us a perfect draw of 16 matches in the first round, 8 in the second round, and then quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. So the winner of the tournament will have won five matches in a row - which is what I call a good cup run!

So, if you are hesitating - get your name down quickly - and those of you who have still "to notify" me of your choice of army please let me know asap. The first round draw will appear in a new thread in this part of the forum on Sunday morning.

P.S. I have noticed that some of you have been practising!

Hello Steve. I have decided to stay out this time because this is the first knock-out competition of this size that I have seen attempted with FOG. I am anticipating that I might need to make a few adjudications because of non-starters or because of slow play, particularly in the first round - so it is probably better if I sit this one out and just make sure everything runs smoothly.

And yes, it should be really good - lots of new players are taking part, which is great, and hopefully they will go on to join the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (LOEG) and some of the other exciting competitions that are organised in this part of the forum.

Put me down for Later Scots and Highlanders.
