Alexander - ROTW - massina_NZ (capt), Tullius, rexhurley, jonno and Fedem

And there we have it the full teams.

We have approximately 3 weeks so captains start communicating with your players about who wishes to use which army.

To confirm start date will be Feb 15th. So it would be good to confirm with players what armies they wish to use and start listing armies etc as soon as possible.

Again each team will play one another, so 3 games in total. Let's say 10 to 14 days per game.

Also for all players, check out the rules etc

I have had no reply from Morbio about adjucating so if anybody can think of somebody else, please contact them yourselves and try and get confirmation.

Otherwise I will organise.

Cheers

Eric,

Sorry for not replying earlier, I'm not as active on these forums as I once was - maybe that will rule me out of the adjuticator role :lol: I'm not sure what is needed in terms of adjudication, the matches are decided by the captains, the players play them and the results decide the winner. I can't think of anything that needs someone to make a judgement, however if I've missed anything (it's been a while) then let me know. The only bit where a decision is needed is regarding which team is playing which team, and who is 'home' and who 'away'. I used a d6 (six sided dice) to determine that, so not an actual decision. If you want me to roll the dice let me know, but I fear I may delay things because I don't visit here daily now.

Cheers,
Morbio

Hi M

Thanks for the reply.

Was going to give each team a number of 1 to 4 and then let my mum, choose the numbers and who plays who.

A bit concerned as team captains would contact me to specify which player is using which army.

Last time Mike was capt but I made some suggestions on who should use what army, based on gut feelings/guesswork on what our opponents would use and who would use those armies..

So I would not be able to help at all if I organise it.

TEAM CAPTAINS

You do not have to contact me about which army you will field just copy and paste.

Cheers

To confirm

This is the fourth Companions Cup.

Team captains please confirm your willingness to lead your armies to glory/ignominy (delete as applicable) and determine your commanders for the forthcoming campaign. You can keep the same team or draft in new blood whichever you decide is best.

Reminder of rules, new armies and terrain

This will be a team event with teams representing 4 world regions; British Isles (UK & Ireland), Europe (excluding British Isles), North America (US & Canada) and Rest of World (all other places). .

Tournament Format

For a change if it is acceptable all teams will play against each other, hopefully this will make the final games even more exciting.

As before there will be a random draw to decide which teams are home and away

Teams, Captains and Selection

The teams;
Hannibal (representing British Isles) will be captained by Triarius
Caesar (representing North America) will be captained by Batesmotel
Pyrrhus (representing Europe) will be captained by Hidde
Alexander (representing RoW) will be captained by Massina_NZ

Each team will consist of 5 players.

The captain of each team;

- will select players for the team, whether they do this based on LoEG position, their knowledge, first-come requests, etc. is up to them.

The following forum document viewtopic.php?p=191294#191294 will be used to determine a player's location and eligibility for a team. So, if you want to be considered for this event then please update the document!

- will determine which army each of his players commands.
- will have some influence regarding which armies fight each other (more later)
- may want to give guidance regarding army composition and tactics

Armies, Points and Terrain

The 5 armies for this tournament will be 600 points and are;
- Alexandrian Macedonian
- Thracian
- Skythian
- Later Achaeminiad
- Classical Indian

ALL ALLIES CAN BE USED

The terrain (with match number) for this tournament are;
1. Very Crowded
2. Crowded
3. Mixed
4. Open
5. Very Open

Determination of Matches

The match-up of all 5 armies will be determined before any battles begin. The process for doing this is as follows;
- The captain of the away team will nominate an army to fight match number 1.
- After seeing the enemy army the captain of the home team will then nominate an army to fight match number 1. He will also propose an army to fight match 2.
- After seeing the enemy army the captain of the away team will then nominate an army to fight match number 2. He will also propose an army to fight match 3.
- After seeing the enemy army the captain of the home team will then nominate an army to fight match number 3. He will also propose an army to fight match 4.
- After seeing the enemy army the captain of the away team will then nominate an army to fight match number 4.
- Match 5 is determined by what's left.

N.B. A captain may not chose the same army for any match (i.e. civil war) unless it is the 5th match.

Both captains will then assign their players to the armies and PM them to me. I will publish them once I have received both selections.

Players then create their respective 600 point armies.

Each home player creates his battle (with FoW and double moves on), PMs his opponent and fights the battle. Note: This relies on both players to select the same terrain for the battle!

The winner should publish the results on this forum.

Determination of Team Match Results

A win will gain a point, a draw half a point, no points for a loss.
A team wins if it gets 3 or more points in a match.
If both teams get 2.5 points then total team BP difference will count (total team BPs for minus total team BPs against).
If still a tie then the team with most BPs for... to encourage attacking play!
If still a tie then captains will play-off with 600 point Alexander Macedonian armies, repeated until a winner is found.

Administration

I will administer the tournament, which comprises of;
- The selection of armies for the tournament
- Decding upon the points used for the tournament
- The selection of 5 terrain compositions
- The random draw of all matches. This will determine home advantage too.
- The collection of army-player assignments and publishing of them
- Arbitration on any rule disputes (hopefully I've thought of all eventualities)

I hope you will all trust me to be impartial in the draw and not to abuse any information I may see regarding team selections OR we could find somebody completely neutral to administer this tournament

Initial draw to follow soon....

Just to clarify

The teams are full for this one.
Hopefully there will be a next one so keep visit the forum and aply for that one if you wish.
Unfortunately it will take some time. This start February 15th and there are more games than before.
Europe always seem to have troble finding enough players so if you are from that part of the world you
should have a good chance to get a place :)
