Original PzC, several patches and the DLCs files...
Yep, it can become tricky. Especially now, when Steam\Origin\Battlenet just updates everything with minimal user interaction.

I hope this was sarcasm i missed here Impar. Especially Origin is more a spyware then anything else. I rather store some files manually then to install that crap. Additionally you do not need several patches as the latest includes all the changes from before. So only valid point are the DLCs which all contain the same patch but tbh in times of 1 TB external had drives and DvD burners being cheap as dirt it's more a theoretical problem imho.

QFT.
I don't know what is the fuss about having to store 20 DLC x300 MB. Are we whining because of 2 DVD or 10GB in our Hardisk?
The only valid point is from those who have restricted access to the internet, limited and low speed downloads.

Nope.

Not the case.

Let me explain what happens whenever I buy DLCs from the mentioned Digital Distribution Platforms.
I buy the original game, I buy X number of DLCs. I play the game+DLCs until I either uninstall them or format the system. Prior to uninstaling the game or formatting the system I can backup the game installation folder or backup the game itself into a .exe file.
When I want to play the game again, I can (1) just re-download the entire game+DLCs at 30Mb\s, (2) put back the backuped game folder into the DD platform folder and verify the game integrity, (3) install the original game via the backuped .exe file. The platform will automatically keep the games updated using the 30Mb\s connection, some will even keep my custom key configuration and save files.
On all of these three options the installation of the game and DLCs is made in three, or less, user actions using the full available internet connection.

In PzC I have to keep the original game file and serial key, the last patch, the 39 GC DLC file and the 39 GC DLC serial key, the 40 GC DLC file and the 40 GC serial key, the 41 GC DLC file and the 41 GC DLC serial key, ... 42, 43, 44 and 45. Afrika Korps DLC? Pacific DLC?
I have to manually install the game using the game serial key, the last patch, the 39 GC using the 39 GC serial key, the 40 GC using the 40 GC serial key, the 41 GC using the 41 serial key, ... 42, 43, 44 and 45.
How many user actions?
And yes, I know PzC can be updated automatically, but at what speed?

I am VERY happy about the content & gameplay of the 39 campaign that I just have played through. I dare say that I am a skilled panzer corps player - at least against the AI that I managed to beat on general difficulty in the core game campaigns. I had not to try a map twice and could beat all maps in decisive difficulty with captures at least in my last turn, so sometimes it was close. Even if I found the difficulty not too challenging, the new features like captured units, enemy unit hunt and the new scope on smaller areas in map design really made my day. I liked the new variety with secondary mission objectives (loved especially the map where you should hold a polish river against counter attacks) and was surprised the Norway campaign was included into the 39 one, when I thought after Warsaw it surely is over. I applaud the scenario designers, great job guys!

Bought Campaign 40 right away :D and I´m looking forward your other products. Please keep quality at this level, it would be amazing.

ps: I didnt lose many units in combat, but among them were my SE mountain troops. On the other hand, I could keep my captured guns from the polish seizes. Are those occupying core slots or are they handled like SE units?

They work like core units.
There are a couple of hidden capturable units in the 40 campaign ;)

Norwegian towns without title

I don't know, if somebody already mentioned it on the forum, but at the two last norwegian maps (Lillehammer, Narvik), many towns have no names, but only a title "Norwegian town". It should be corrected and the towns should have names - when all naval units are named (which is really nice), than this issue takes a little feeling from the gameplay (sure, not much, but if it can be corrected, than why not)?

The DLC's offer excellent value for money and they are well balanced. Big thumbs up to the developers and anyone else contributing to this very enjoyable stuff. I do have a question though: what happens if you play through the dlc"s a couple of times and a month from now you want to start dlc '41? Does the game only keep track of your latest core to complete a prior campaign or does it offer a choice?

If you complete DLC 1940 10 times, you will have the choice to select any one of these 10 Cores to bring into DLC 1941. :)

Can we even mix units from the 10 different cores ?

I've completed '39 and '40 - great tactical tests even as a lieutenant. Am now resting on the captured island of Jersey in the English Channel.
:D When will I be be reunited with my core force for the next phase of world conquest?

The next installment has already started BETA testing, with a tentative release date of December 5th, so less than a month!
As before, remember these dates are subject to change.

I´ve played through 39 and started with 40 now. Trying to slow down my pace of play, to not have a too long pause until 41 arrives. I enjoyed the DLCs very much so far.

ps: looking forward especially to the battle for Crete scenario. I´ve been playing the c 64 game "OPERATION MERKUR" dealing with the same scenario back in 1991 and it was my introduction into computer based tactical wargaming.

Marvellous expansions 39 and 40....
something about Africa...
additional tips allied and pacific general...?

That's my guess. Google translate says:
wonderful campaign expansions 39 and 40. for when something in africa. some guy there someday pacific general or general
W00t, the word maravillosas looked like marvelous and turned out to be 'wonderful' :D

I can't say anything about Africa at this time other than it has been planned for quite a while now. Might have an announcement soon! Allied and Pacific Corps might be great in the future, but at the moment my focus is on completing the rest of the DLC campaign. That is, the years 1941 to 1945.

I´ll write some my experiences with playing the DLC40, maybe this is interesting for the scenario makers. For comparison: I managed to break through the 39DLC in General´s difficulty setting with decisive victories each battle without a retry, except in the bzura river fight that had new gameplay elements like scripted reinforcements the first time & I wasn´t aware of them before. I had a harder time in the 1940 sequel. I played in General´s difficulty again and soon had several retries as I wanted to keep all victories decisive. The first sign for a harder game difficulty and some sort of strength decline of my core force was, when I couldnt end scenarios with as much prestige as in Poland. Second, after some battles I started to lose more units, sometimes ones I definitely didnt want to lose. The whole trend continued as I won 1 battle only on marginal (I think it was the battle where you had to use ferries), but decided to keep it and to not retry it, as I became content with the outcome even if a massive unexpected french tank counterattack killed some precious elite units of mine. Afterwards I could return to decisive victories but I kept losing some important units every now and then, among them several SE units, which was quite painfull and I decided to not load saved games to rescue them, so I ended the campaign with only modest infantry experience and only one trained Panzer IIIF.
Actually I enjoyed the harder difficulty and I think it´s fitting well in the war-gets-harder-every-year idea that I think the scenario makers are wanting to achieve. DLC40 is not too hard, but definitely somewhat harder than the Poland campaign. One just has to be ok with losing one or the other elite unit, new units are cheap at this stage of the war anyway and you can train new ones quite quickly. I ended this DLC with 1 SE Gebirgsjäger and several super experienced airforce units, and what I love most is my well trained 2 captured polish guns and 2 french tank units. I also enjoyed using units like cavalry, Marder -ATs proved to be awesome, and some lower AA, that I hardly ever used in the non DLC campaigns. If I should replay the DLCs, I would even more focus on training low tech units (like panzer 1A, IIC ...) for my reserves to build a larger core for later upgrades, because now I can better distinguish expected difficulties for single DLC battles.

I´m looking forward December 5th and want to put my core in action again.
