Arado E.581
Very little is known about this very late war fighter study which was abandoned in favor of further development work on the Ar 234.

Blohm & Voss P.198
Faced with the ever increasing streams of Allied bombers, the Luftwaffe had long requested a high altitude fighter that was possible to produce and operate in large numbers. However, the neccessary modifications for piston based engines proved to be a major obstacle.
When the first turbojet engines appeared, it seemed only logical to utilize such engines to finally make the concept of a mosquito fighter feasible. The P.198 was one of the first designs with that intent in mind.

Blohm & Voss P.211/02
A competitor to the He 162 in the Volksjäger project, this design was not without it's merits, but also had several drawbacks, such as the low air intake, the rectangular shape likely to induct a considerable amount of drag and the overall slightly worse performance projected relative to the Heinkel. All things considered, Luftwaffe's decision was probably not without justification.

Focke-Wulf Volksflugzeug
Focke-Wulf technical director, Kurt Tank, was principally opposed to the entire idea of a Volksjäger - and he quoted good reasons for this stance. For that reason, the companies entries into the program can possibly be called half-hearted at best. Other than a slightly redesigned Flitzer, they entered the Volksflugzeug, whose specifications where somewhat lavish, considering the specifications of the program.

Focke-Wulf Flitzer
Based on his experience with earlier projects such as the Fw 189, Focke-Wulf designer Kurt Tank created this concept for a single jet twin-boom fighter. While initially well received, the reliance on resources which were in increasingly short supply finally caused it to be abandoned.

Focke-Wulf Ta 183 Huckebein
When it became known to the Reichsluftfahrtministerium that the Allies were working on their own jetfighters, it decided to pursue a number of projects in order to maintain Germany's technological edge in the area.
The Ta 183 was one of these designs, but before the war ended, only a number of prototypes had been built.

Gotha P.60
After carrying out some work on the Horten Ho IV, Gotha was asked by the OKL to design a new aircraft based on these experiences.
The result was the P.60, a two-pilot high altitude capable heavy jet fighter.

Heinkel He 111 Z Zwilling
Originally conceived to tow the heavy Me 321 gliders, this design essentially consisted of two welded together He 111s.
A small prototype series was actually constructed and several specialized variants, such as a heavy bomber and a reconnaissance plane, were developed. In 1944, however, when series production was scheduled to begin, the Luftwaffe cancelled bomber production in favor of more fighters, which ended the project.

Heinkel P.1073
While clearly the Luftwaffe had the technical advantage when it was able to field the first mass produced jetfighter of the world - the Me 262 - it was soon clear this advantage would not last. Evidently, the Allies were - sooner or later - going to field their own jetfighters, and thus, the in some ways relatively conventional design of the Me 262 would have to be improved upon.
The P.1073 was one effort to do so, projected - even fitted with interrim Jumo engines - with a considerable improvement in maximum speed.
