I really hope this won't be the final word.
At least for me, the 39 grand campaign _IS_ the game, while the rest is nice to have. The exception would be the grand campaign(s) of an 'Allied General' style extension.
I will enthusiasticly buy P.C. Extensions/AddOns - as long as they (also) enhance the grand campaign (regardless if its the axis or allies one). But i won't touch standalone only extensions.
Adding to an already released campaign is surely not an easy task (with the necessary balancing involved), but in my opinion it would be worth the effort.

The first expansion to Panzer Corps will be the War in the Desert campaign.
Sounds great to me, 'Rommel and the AfriKa Korps' - War in the Desert campaign

Downloading the file from the link above took approx. 4 minutes at a speed of approx. 400 KB/sec.
The in-game updater has been 'downloading' for the past 25 minutes at about 24KB/sec.
Is there a problem here?
Can I cancel the updater download and just use the file I downloaded or will stopping the process while in progress muddle up my files?

Yes, as far as I know, no problem in cancelling.

EDIT The beta is complete so do not install any old beta patches (they have been removed so you should not be able to grab them anyway). The patch listed here is the final patch. It install on top of your current version of the game. On the main menu it will show v1.01 to tell you you are up to date.

just to let someone know. sunday night while trying to download the patch i couldnt get it to download i was sent to the mirror sites to try and was asked to turn off my anti virus software encase that was interfering. i didnt have a problem doing that ive heard that it can cause problems with downloading patchs. well after trying the mirror sites and having no luck with the patch i did in fact download a nasty surprise. a major virus that screwed up my hard drive that i had to take to a shop and spend $225 to get it fixed. you might want to check these mirror sites so no one else downloads something besides the patch.
im afraid to try to download the patch again to tell the truth.

Sorry for hearing that.
I've checked every mirror before posting any link. And with each one, I was able to download the patch.
Could you tell which one it was?
Try from the official site:
http://www.slitherine.com/files/panzer_ ... e-v101.exe
Edit: Just checked again the mirrors, disabled my AV, and downloaded the patch.

I'm very sorry to hear that but as VPaulus says the mirrors are all working fine for us. I think it is unlikely that the virus is related to the mirror but as these sites are not under our control we can't be sure exactly what is happening.
The issue is that your virus checked wont allow you to download the patches and so the only work around is to turn it off. The bug in in the virus checker generating false positives and unfortunately there is nothing we can do about it. Another option is to contact the developer of the virus checker and ask them to fix it so you can download the files.
In future if you disable the viirus checker I would make sure you only download direct from us or another site you trust. I'm not sure what else to suggest

thanks. its all cool now. it may have been something else but the timing suggested it might be a mirror site. however something strange happened a while ago with the patch i tried to download yesterday that didnt work. i was sitting here reading the tor forums when my "new" antivirus software, the comp store uninstalled my avg and installed norton in its place, notice poped up saying that panzer corp update 1.01 is safe. i clicked on it then clicked on the locate button to see where it was located on my computer, it was indeed the one i tried to download last night in my download folder, found it but the icon for it looked different. when i clicked on it, it downloaded and i now have the new update. strange that it would be the one from last night that didnt work then but does now.

anyway everything is good and i look forward to getting the new updates i read about in the other threads, the new grand campaign 39 and 40.
