I love the period it covers and want to love FoG but every time I try to get serious with the game I just end up frustrated. The game is extremely accessible but learning the intricacies is like pulling teeth. As a new player this has been extremely frustrating.
It has taken me about 4 months of playing and I feel that I am just about getting to grips with it now. As they say, patience is a virtue.

Blimey - right numpties out there!!
When I started playing I didn't quite understand what the hell I was doing/what was going on/why I spent hours of my life behind closed curtains having no life etc. And that's despite playing the tabletop version! Then, playing the game and referring to the manual when I needed to it became really easy to understand what I was doing (mostly wrong!)/what was going on and even why I spent part of my life behind closed curtains.
I truly don't see why some of the above chaps are complaining - especially in such a......how can it be put nicely.......oh...it can't! Pretty petty way. Play the game.....read the manual and wiki......and learn from experience.

I've updated the A4 guide I did to the current rules (off the Help menu).
I'll get it posted onto wiki but if anyone wants it now please just PM me an email address. It's an excel file set to print 2 A4 sides.
Cheers

Oh dear god, the manual again.
You are beating a dead horse, Slitherine made it plain clear that they won't make a complete manual, but just update it now and then with the big modifications added to the game.
If you want to see how a computer wargame manual should look like, have a look at Great Battles Collector's Edition manual. The game can be still bought from amazon/ebay, and the game manual can still be found around the net.
