So is it ok to install FOG 1.00 and then just apply the patch 1.60?

About the books you need to install them or just enter the serial numbers on the menu?
My FOG menu as I remember don't give you any option to include the serials.

Yes, Just apply 1.6.0 from the download link

http://www.matrixgames.com/products/378/downloads/

to the 1.0.0 install and use the live update button for future updates.

You should be able to enter the keys for all you games from the serials link in the initial menu.

There is no serials link in the initial menu. I installed from disk. (1.01) I then entered my serial number for 1.01. I then installed patch 1.60, and it had my fog serial, but no other serial options. I then installed the latest patch 1.6.1 and the initial load screen has no way of entering serial numbers that I have seen.

I just purchased a new computer and what is installed works fine. I want to enter all my serials for my expansion packs. Where is the serials link. I do not see it.

I did solve the problem, but it required a complete uninstall. I loaded the initital fog release, then each expansions release and complete patch in turn (I bypassed the incrementals). When I got to Immortal Fire, It downloaded patch 1.6.1 (well 19 patches) Then SAS, and LTR it just check for patches and loaded the serial numbers. It would be great if there was an update serial number button. It would make life much easier. The SAS and LTR were insttalls, but it bypassed everything but the serial number entries.

There should be a register serial button on the game menu before the game loads up? Don't you see this?

There is no register serial button. That is the problem. There is a register button, but it goes to matrix's website. And is used to register a new game with them for support, not the game.

After a full reinstall, it worked fine. Just took awhile. The uninstall program on windows 7 64 bit appears to leave some registry entries in place. During the process that worked, it said I had 1.6.0 installed after are you sure you want to downgrade. This was during the IFR part of the install that eventually upgraded to 1.6.1

All is well now. A picture of the serial registry button would be appreciated.

The Register Serial Button appears only if you purchase Eternal Empire and I guess all future expansions. I just purchased eternal empire and the register serial number button is on the initial screen. Might this be added in 1.62 or 1.63 patch for those that do not have the latest expansion?

Just bought FOG and the decline and fall expansion. Installed FOG and now when using the auto-update function the updater just hangs and then after some few min says not responding. This has happened 8 times now over a 20 min period.

I am running win 7,64 bit and have even run the game as administrator but still no joy on the update.

I can get the 1.71 version patch from the matrix website, they do not show a 1.72 version patch.

Can you get the 1.7.0 update and run that. Then try auto updating and see if it helps. This way you'll only be doing a very small update which might help.

Installed the base game on my daughters computer after i got home and the auto-updater is working fine now. Going through 9 of 18 in patching at the moment.

Success! Base-game has been updated now on to Decline and fall. Thanks for responding but seems just a temporary glitch.

Can you download the stand alone patch - its much quicker to do this than the incremental patches. These are really designed for users who are only jumping 1 version and always up to date.

All you need to do is grab the latest patch from the link above which is v 1.8. This includes all previous patches. Try this and let us know how it goes.

Sorry you are still having problems. I'm referring it to the development team.

Are your drivers up to date and can you tell us the full system specs of your machine.

This issue is that somehow you have ended up with a different version of the "FieldOfGlory.exe"and the "FieldOfGlory Libs". This error means these files do not match. The ones in the patch do match so we're confused as to how this could happen unless your PC is selectively installing parts of the patch which would be pretty strange.

To help us track this down could you zip up and send the files from the games install folder to us. We need "FieldOfGlory.exe" and the folder "FieldOfGlory Libs". Please email them to info@slitherine.co.uk.

Thanks!

UPDATE
All sorted.

You must completely delete the entire Slitherine folder from the first failed install and patch attempt.

All works fine now.
