Unfortunately, Peter is away until Friday so no fighting before then.

In a good approximation of the Grand Old Duke of York, the Macedonian forces proved once again the dangers of a ramble in the hillsides without a proper plan or wet weather clothing.

Ptolemaic Result

I believe you get to run the Massaliote defenders of Narbonensis that Deeter's Gauls lost to me last turn. Meanwhile I'm fighting off the evil Seleucid Empire which is attempting to re-take Cappadocia from the gallant Pontic freedom fighters.

I am awaiting a challenge form the upstart Massaliotes. They won't get away so easy this time. I'm bringing more naked fanatics than you can shake a pike at -- if that's your thing.

Deeter the Gaul
Unforutnately Lysimachos draw won't let my pikers and higher quality naked fanatics stick it to your inferior grade ones this time. Sounds like the Massaliotes should have even more numeric advantage than last time. All the better.

Why more numerous?

I figure that your naked fanatics are more expensive than your average troops so there should be fewer of you if you're bringing more naked fanatics than last time. I guess if you're cutting down on chariots and cavalry, they are more expensive than fanatics.

It seems that the Seleucid military prowess is waning.
After a bitter struggle the Macedonians retook Thracia while those bloody Pontic mountaneer are goign to beat again the force of the Hellenistic civilization!
Let's hope the best for the next turn (wishing batesmotel doesn't manage again the Pontics)!
Result
Macedonians 36/40
Seleucids 42/41
Maybe tomorrow I'll submit you a new, more complex map, that, if everybody agrees could give much more fun to the game, opening a link amid the western and eastern basin of the Mediterranean and giving the chance of a direct confrontation between Gauls, Macedonians, Seleucids and Carthaginian Ptolemaics, Romans.

Hi everybody,
here is the new map:
http://www.mediafire.com/?mtgidkmai2m
Let have a look at it and give me an advice if you like it or not.
The idea is to link the two Mediterranean basins, giving more chances of combat between all the players.
Historically it could allow the invasion of Greece and Asia Minor by the Celts, also making possible a direct confrontation among the Punic and Ptolemaic powers.
If it satisfies everybody we will use it from the beginning of the new turn, otherwise we will retain the previous one.

Alas the battle in Cappadocia is ended with another defeat for the Seleucid army, under the wily command of general Batesmotel.
The military prestige of the empire is sinking ..
Sleucids 41/41
Pontics 30/50
Seleucid camp looted

Carthaginian (petergarnett) vs Gauls (deeter) in Celtiberia
Ptolemaics (batesmotel) vs Macedonians (george123) in Argolis
Argolis is now Ptolemaic

The attacker are the Carthaginians so the challenge should be launched by petergarnett.

Obviously, if you prefer to speed up the game I see no problem if the challenge is launched by you but probably petergarnett must be quite busy at the moment, having always been very timely in the other occasions.
While awaiting the conclusion of the 2 battles between deeter and petergarnett any comment about the new map I posted here some days ago would be appreciated in order to understand if anyone likes it or not.

You should PM Peter in case he isn't keeping up with campaign stuff in the forum.
