I haven't installed the new patch yet so I'm not sure what the current behavior is, just noting how it should be for skirmishers. Note that eliminating the free facing change will have a major effect on cavalry horse archers and on MF archers. The change in how anarchy/impetuous charges are resolved is another major change as will be the elimination of the second free facing change for drilled troops.
It may be reasonable to have a moratorium on battles for the campaign while the players get used to the changes which, unlike Fog of War, won't be something that gets turned on or off on a per game basis.

King Xiccarph sits reviewing reports, two more losses to the Pantherites. morale will be down from that. Negotiations are ongoing regarding a settlement. Considers doubling of the Galatian bodyguard and takes another dose of 'medication' in case someone decide to slip poison into his wine. Considers building a monument to the fallen and paying a stipend to their families to help keep tempers cool. If enough other kings keep up the pressure on the Pantherites, regardless of whether they win or lose, that enemy will eventually have trouble keeping so many armies in the field. But how many realms are actually folllowing that policy? It looks like several have made peace and ceeded territority to the Panther King, which ruins that strategy. Looks out a window and ponders the cost/benefits of keeping armies active against the Pantherites...

Covenanter invasion of Kappadokia

The Covenanter invasion of Kappadokia has been dealt a bloody nose:
Kappadokian victory.
Losses:
Covenanters: 22587/61500 (75/70)
Kappadokia: 18896/55000 (35/61)
They made a desert and called it peace.
The relative Kappadokian casualties seem bizarrely high considering the result in terms of attrition points, but I guess that is because the Kappadokian heavy infantry were mostly wiped out.

Covenentors had tons of bows so I managed to shoot down plenty of Pontic troops. 1/2 his cav was close to break point but he pulled them back and they survived unbroken. Thinks all those bows also lead to defeat... and my army sucks against cats
