Unconnecting my modem is just a matter of flicking a switch...pretty easy so it's not a problem for me. But I have also wondered if reconnecting might just send the data anyway. Besides, I doubt if I'll ever actually disconnect while playing, unless I'm experimenting with a scenario and just want to play around with it for knowledge sake.
Personally, I don't really care about the rankings, it's no big deal. Although, I was surprised

to find out that all the games I've played were being collected in a public data base. Since many of the games that I have soloed and lost were just "information" only games that I never intended to "win", the data base doesn't really accurately reflect my supposed "skill". I guess from now on whenever I play a game I better play to win against the AI, which all of my wins reflect. Playing against a human on the other hand is reflected by four losses to four games played.

Sorry I don't understand : you built a ranking list for those who played against the computer ?
So far I understand, singles games (which are registered in the ranking list) are against AI
But MP games against human are not register.
Let me know if I am right.
Anyway thanks for all the work you did do in the past, you are doing now and the one you will do in the future. Thanks also for your great activity in answering us in this forum.
Best regards

They have mentioned that the rankings are just single games (against AI) at this point. Multiplayer may come at a later point. Sort of a little treat for now.

Thanks. So I well understood.
It's amazing

I thought that they began first by the MP. For me a ranking list showing the game against AI is without interest. I know, I will not have a look in this list anymore and I will let the others do what they want. Just my opinion.
And it's not as complicated that they said. But ... I want the perfection at the begining ... Wait and see.
Best regards

Some sort of reward points( that can be exchange for disocunt in future games ) can be given to those player that complete the games - the more you play , the more you get (not on win/loss) . This will encourage them to keep playing and keep the game alive . Sure it will subject to some sort of abuse but at the end of the day , you will achieve what you want most that is people keep playing your games
The developer can use this data from time to time to check the popularity of their games
Just my 2 cents

Rankings and scenario design

Do the rankings include custom games or only out of the box games?
As a scenario designer I play test my scenarios a lot, and I get quite a few defeats as I try and give them a knife-edge balance. Looking at my stats it looks like these are included in the rankings.

It's all single player games. And yes MP ranking is more complex than you think

Of course
No doubt about that. The priority is to sell a new title and so on, to work on it to have a good extension. This is the priority because without money there would be no more game. By the way I paid for Rise Of rome showing you that your work is interesting for me
For the rest, I will not repeat what I said previously.

I think a ranking is only fun if it provides a fair representation of your skill at the game. Like someone else mentioned, sometimes they mess around with scenarios without the intention of winning. Also, in designing my Thermopylae scenario, I must have lost it 30+ times as I developed different versions to give the Greeks only the faintest sniff of a chance of victory. Seeing all those defeats up there isn't much fun (all those poor, dead Spartans ... <sniff>).
