I have played this list a couple of times in practice games against Pete (actually possibly about the only practice games he gets) and it is not a bad army. Very mobile with enough threats even if they are individually not that big that in the end it can overwhelm its opponents if they are not careful or decisive enough.

The fight on a 7' frontage is a good basis.

I though there was plenty of time for the trade show - I just turned up 15 minutes late for one of my afternoon games not realising it started at 145 rather than 2pm

Oh - RBS Assyrian list is now in the Wiki, as is my rather less successful Roman one

If anyone is able to post their lists in the wiki its always much appreciated. If you use the magic spreadsheet, adding in a column of asterisks means you can put an asterisk at the start of each line before cutting and pasting the list into the wiki - this sorts out the formatting instantly.

As you may have noticed, the FOG and DBMM comp.s are the last men standing on Sunday night as it is, and we are under pressure to get finished. That's why the games are only 3h 15+a few, not the "standard" 3h 30. The only way to squeeze in a bit more time for the show itself would be to start earlier on Sunday morning, which (even if possible, which I'd have to investigate) has not always been a universally popular idea. I am aware, for example, that at least one set of players (no names, no pack-drill, in case their wives ever see this!) were out enjoying the delights of scantily (or less) clad young ladies gyrating in one of Reading's seedier establishments until 3am on Saturday night. I almost ran one of them over on Sunday morning, as he staggered to the local filling-station for emergency chocolate-rations.

You weren't the only one, Tim. I was tasked to go find Ken Cooper, but he turned up just as I was about to embarrass him with a PA announcement.

Maybe some of the traders would like to arrive early on Sunday, when there were quite a few people milling around but only the B&B (and the food stalls!) doing business.

I get the results into the system as soon as I can. Speed of draw is a direct function of speed of results, so the plaudits go to the players, getting their games finished and their results-sheets handed in nice and quickly. To be honest, it caught me out too - I even managed to eat something both lunchtimes, and buy some of that nice "FOG-branded" rubber terrain from the Magister Militum stand! It's the first time I've managed to do my own shopping at Warfare in years!

Suggesting to traders that they might like to open for 30 minutes or so before the 9.00 Sunday-morning start is an interesting idea. I've now got a couple of suggestions to kick-around with the Committee.

Cheques will go to Ian Colby again please, like this year, not to Steve East like 2008. I don't think Ian's ready quite yet, though - we need to work out the price, for a start. I gather that the venue is already trying to squeeze us, and we don't yet know whether we will have the Old Gym out the back, where the WHx competitions were, as there are plans to turn those into a soft-play area. Of course, for those with young families, having a new soft-play area may be an added draw!
