As the sun dipped below the hills a battered unit of billmen and longbow men low on arrows moved and fired at long range at very battered Rus cavalry unit. The bows caused just one casualty but that tipped the Rus into autobreak.
That was the very last missile attack on the very last turn of a really great intriguing game. It moved the Polish loss from 59%.
Many thanks to Nijis for another great game and I feel an apology for that desperately late result.

Division A
On an open desert map against random27's Polish 1386 and their Hussite 1419 allies, Chris Townsend's Dailami decided to demonstrate their defensive prowess by occupying (and staying in!) an enclosure and adjoining rough at the very back of their starting position. Their small cavalry force used a track at the back of the position to feint movement to the left, drawing the attention of most of the Polish knights, before splitting into three groups - two cavalry taking a circular route, looking for an eventual opening in the Polish rear, a single unit staying in direct support of the infantry, and the rest joining the light horse on the right flank.
The Poles pushed forward into the attack, bringing up their infantry, supported by artillery, in the centre, and cavalry on each flank (with a small distraction to contain the circling force).
The Dailami right flank cavalry managed to use numbers to outflank and (eventually - knights are hard to rout) defeat the smaller Polish cavalry force. On the left flank, the Poles picked off anyone who strayed from the enclosures, and used missile fire to weaken the defenders, but couldn't quite penetrate. Eventually the supporting medium horse was driven away, and the cavalry unit supporting the infantry was able to sally and outflank knights that had been pinned by the infantry. In the middle, the Polish pavisier and crossbowmen, supported by the light artillery, made life difficult for the defenders, while the Hussite war wagon delivered their loads of medium troops, safe from the Dailami bows. However, when all was said and done, the infantry could only penetrate into one square of the enclosure before the victorious right flank cavalry made it to the centre and began to take out the guns, etc.
Final result was Chris Townsend's Dailami 1056 defeating random27's Polish 1386 and Hussite 1419 allies 54 to 28.
Perhaps another map would not have provided the same defensive position, but the Poles showed great courage and initiative by moving forward with the attack. A good game!

The ulysisgrunt choose a Florentine army of Kiel, knights and halberds for the demonstration (with a few hidden light cavalry). While the terrain featured a large stream, the speed of the Kiel enabled them to cross well before a defense could be set up, and the speed was further demonstrated by catching a skirmisher that tried to stay and shoot. So the Dailami retreated to an open hill, with their infantry supported by archers. One Kiel and some knights did shatter in their assault on the hill, having been previously weakened by missile fire. But the remaining Kiel and some knights did breakthrough, after some resistance. That resistance provided time for the Dailami cavalry, supported by some infantry, to first cross and then recross the large stream, and get into a flanking position, picking off the halberds and some knights.
The result was both armies at 50%+ rout points, and the remaining Kiel, almost impervious to flanking, quickly chasing down individual Dailami infantry. When suddenly the opportunity arose to first hold and then rear attack a Kiel with expert horse archers, followed by some infantry support while the other Kiel and knights where otherwise engaged.
Final result: Chris Townsend's Dailami 1056 defeat ulysisgrunt's Florentine1424 68 to 51.
A good game that could have gone either way.

Poles (Nijis) defeat (barely) Dailamites (ChrisTownsend), 62-52.
An extremely close battle, as the score shows. The hillmen of Gilan descended from their lush mountain fastnesses to meet the Polish Crusade in the sweltering heat of the Syrian desert. Both sides faced off in defensive positions, until a Polish charge on the right drew the highlanders into the fray. The Polish cavalry eventually prevailed over the Iranian horse, but the Dailamites swept away Polish pavisiers and wagons better suited to resist European cavalry than impact foot. Then the battle swung back and forth, as the Polish knights (or at least those who hadn't gone tearing off to loot the Dailamite baggage train) tried to overwhelm Dailamite foot in defensive positions in the rough, and the Dailamites in turn tried to isolate knights and bring their numerical superiority to prevail. A handful of last stands by surrounded knights allowed the Poles to eek out a very narrow victory.

Anchoring their flank on a handy lake the Burgundians rolled forward across a stream and were starting to feel quietly confident as the dismounted Men at Arms ground through dismounted Muslim Lancers. Sadly, not one but two Burgundian Generals died while in combat in the centre of the Burgundian line in a single combat turn. Dismay and concern affected far too many of the surrounding longbow units. That included one yet to suffer a casualty that was dismayed all the way home by the General's demises.
The Dialami expertly took advantage and the game turned on its head as they sent the longbow heavy centre home.
All that saved the Burgundians was that the dismounted Men at Arms were able to lumber back and have good fortune against the Dialami foot (who had suffered considerably to the longbows before they headed off). As the score suggests very very close and could have gone either way in the last turn.
Thanks to Chris for a good nerve wracking game.

The terrain allowed the Burgundians with all their mounted M@A visible and their Long Bows mostly hidden in wods and behind a hill topped with rough ground.
By accident or design the Florentines headed away from the Burgundian Men at Arms and straight at the hill.
As longbows and artillery were effective and then in rough ground held up the Swiss pikes long enough for thenm to be surrounded..
Thanks for the game.

Nijis (Poles) defeats ulysisgrunt (Florentines) 46-17.
Florence's Swiss mercenaries took the lead, crashing into a line of Polish war-wagons and routing them. The Polish knights and their lighter Lithuanian allies swept round the flanks, however, clashing with the Italians' mercenary knights. One keil's commander was struck down by a freak arquebus ball, however, allowing the Poles to push into the rear of the formation Amid the confused melee of horse and pike, the Florentine knights were isolated and cut down and the army gave way.

Attached is the Scoring update.
I apologize for the tardiness of this report but it should be updated frequently from here out.
In division A
Harveylh has posted an impressive 7-1 record and pretty much has the victory......although 2 or 3 players could conceivably outscore him if the stars allign.
In division B
IMC is looking very strong , but he still has an unplayed match with wzfcns that could decide the winner. and like Div A, if the stars allign there are 2 or 3 player still in the discussion.
I have voided the games of OmegaOM as he has not completed a single game in LM. There will only be 7 matches in Div B

A particularly fortuitous turn in a swirling contest on an open battlefield saw the Knights scrape to the necessary margin of victory against my opponents less fortunate Byzantines. Traitors within the fractious Byzantine Empire are surely responsible...
Many thanks to my opponent.

Div A
Nijis (Poles) defeats Hari72 (Indian) 42-3. The Poles came up against an army that had already defeated several of the greatest powers in Europe, including one or two that had swept away their own forces from the field. The combination of heavily armored knights, war wagons and pavisier infantry, however, proved tough for the Indians, whose main striking power was medium cavalry. The battlefield was just broken enough to make it hard to bring the elephants to bear, especially as most Polish troops, both horse and foot, carried some sort of missile weapon. Luck too was on the Poles' side, as their pavisiers volleys were sufficient to break up most Indian charges before impact - a relatively rare occurrence.
Thanks for the game!

I think there might be a small error in the tables. Div A scores show me winning 61-42 against Bagatrix, when in fact he defeated me. I think the win/loss ratios are correct as of the table's Aug 26 date, though. Apologies if I got anything wrong there.
