Holien
(Roman) Defeats Indibil (Skythian) 16% to 43%

The Rough and the Smooth

The map had several large swathes of rough ground from the middle to the right and even a bit on the left middle. The two Armies deployed in a long line of units virtually the entire width of the map.

For the Romans the rough was closer and they were able to gain footings on these islands and dominate both flanks with an Elephant on the left and all their Cavalry on the right. Fights broke out the entire length and a few Skythian cavalry units broke through the line and got into the Roman rear.

Alas not soon enough for them and the Roman pilum and short sword forced back the Cavalry Archers and soon wore down the Lancers to a swift victory.

Thank you to my opponent who kept a swift rate of turns and mounted a brave attack with his army. Perhaps not enough smooth to allow for a full exploit against the Roman forces sat in the rough…

SawyerK with the Galatians drew with anderarcos leading the Parthians at a 47 (SawerK) to 51 (anderarcos) score.

The Galatians had a favorable starting position with a deep wood on their left and a hill plus meager wood on their right. The Parthians came forward into the narrow front and unleashed a hail of arrows followed by a Galatian frontal attack supported by extensive cavalry. After that it was an exhausting back-and-forth battle of arrows and attacks with the Galatian cavalry (while they existed) sometimes pinning an opposing cavalry unit long enough for a warband to join the attack.

My compliments to my opponent for a very well fought game.

tyronec - Gallic defeats ulysisgrunt - Seleucid 44-2, 102-2.

In the battle of quality against quantity, the swarm of Gauls were able to get around both flanks of the Seleucids while the warbands held on for just long enough.
Thanks for the game.

Helter skelter sort of game on a very open battlefield. I took a lot of thureophoroi and mostly protected them from Lancers while bullying everything else.

The Kushan lights and archers pelted the phalanxes but the damage wasn't enough, and they couldn't put up much of a fight against them up in melee. GG!
