Karvon has suggested seeding the groups, and has done the leg work of extracting player rankings from The Divisional Championships ELO system. I like the idea and will do it.

Players will be split into tiers of four by their ranking and one player from each tier will be randomly put into each group. I will do this on Friday after final army selections are made. The tiers and rankings are:

Tier 1
1 tyronec 2342
2 Aetius39 2152
3 Dreddradiah 2072
4 Questar17 1923

Tier 2
5 Holien 1793
6 markleslie 1743
7 random27 1664
8 Karvon 1645

Tier 3
9 Kroche 1630
10 Bodhran 1561
11 deeter 1439
12 Janohito 1253

Tier 4
13 angusosborne 1215
14 ZeCid 1094
15 mberisso 1056
16 anderarcos11 980

At this stage two players (Holien & Aetius39) have Roman as their preferred army and two players (Janohito and tyronec) have picked Gallic.

Also both Janohito and Aetius39 have chosen Graeco-Bactrian as an option while their last option is an army that someone has picked for their first choice. If neither of them get their first choice they can't both use Graeco-Bactrian.

Choices can still change, but it would be great if you guys could make a fourth selection.

I will PM this too

There is only one chance in four that this scenario plays out so it's not a crisis

1) Gallic
2) Greco-Bactrian
3) Carthaginian (Hannibal in Italy)
4) Ptolemaic

You may want to review the Google spreadsheet which shows the current choices for each player. Otherwise, you may simply be adding a choice which is already taken by someone else in an earlier round so unlikely to be available.

1. Ptolemaic 320-218 BC
2. Galatian 268-63 BC
3. Roman 219-200 BC

Can you enlist allies?
I've changed your first choice to Ptolemaic 217-167 BC so it has the correct year. OK?

I'm going to make another small change to the rules. Quarter-finalists and semi-finalists will not be drawn randomly against each other. Instead they will be drawn like this:

Quarter-finals
1 Winner Group A v Runner-up Group B
2 Winner Group B v Runner-up Group A
3 Winner Group C v Runner-up Group D
4 Winner Group D v Runner-up Group A

Semi-finals
Winner Quarter-final 1 v Winner Quarter-final 3
Winner Quarter-final 2 v Winner Quarter-final 4

On Friday night New Zealand time I will start a new thread to be used for challenges, results and chat. I encourage chat and screenshots! (optimistically)

4 Winner Group D v Runner-up Group A

Another post closer to a tank!

You spotted the typo - I actually meant it to be:

Quarter-finals
1 Winner Group A v Runner-up Group B
2 Winner Group B v Runner-up Group A
3 Winner Group C v Runner-up Group D
4 Winner Group D v Runner-up Group C

Could you make a list of players and armies to see an overview?

Here's the spreadsheet I put together to track. Mind you this is not official. Yellow indicates army choices uncontested by pick level. I'm not positive exactly how Angus is going to randomize picks, so this may not hold true.

Here's the spreadsheet - there's a page with entrants.

Sorry, I thought I'd posted a link already

I think you've done about as much work for this as I have Karvon.

(I'll let you in on a secret - I have already done the randomization and the draw, but I won't reveal it until Friday to deter last minute gamifying of army choice. I put a random number next to each players and sorted them in order twice: once for army selection and the second time to assign to groups. I hope that is adequate for any statisticians out there.)

I said it because right now it is not very clear to me what armies are granted. In the link they look generic, I think, there is no Ptolemaic for example.
