Crossington is dropping out. Please
write me a PM in case you want to join for round II as the
orange faction in the east, with the
Romans V army. I'm jumping in meanwhile.

Round II (262-264 AD): attack declarations
Posted: Mon Nov 28, 2022 6:01 pm
by kronenblatt
Attack declarations (order based primarily on FP adjustments)
- Geffalrus (+31): November 30
- Stew101: (-11): December 1
- SnuggleBunnies (-19): December 2
- Aetius39 (-22): December 3
- kronenblatt (acting replacement) (0): December 4
Please note
- Goths and Iazyges are not allowed to raid Geffalrus this round.
- The attack declaration will be made in a post in the campaign thread on the forum.
- There are two types of attacks (conquest and raid).
- Players are each round required (if possible) to declare one conquest attack but can decide whether to also declare one raid attack that round.
- A player’s conquest and raid attacks in a round cannot be made upon one and the same Roman faction but must be made upon two different Roman factions.
- Example on how to express an attack declaration:
- Conquest: kronenblatt attacks rs2excelsior's Italia (XIII) from Raetia (VII).
- Raid: Franks attack Germania Inferior (IV) from homelands.
- Raid: Franks attack from Germania Inferior (IV). (this normal raid attack requires Germania Inferior (IV) to have already been successfully raided and thus looted by the Franks.)
- (Sea) Raid: Goths attack Macedonia (XVII) from homelands. (sea raid attacks are always made from Goths' homelands.)
- Date (midnight CET (Rome) time) above indicates deadline, after which opportunity for you to declare attack is forfeited and the player next in line may declare his attack.
- Once you have declared an attack, please PM the player next in line, who will then be free to declare his attack, up to his deadline, so we all don't need to wait for each player's deadline.

(Just spent 20 minutes fussing around creating the challenges in FoG2 before noticing that it is the DEFENDER in conquest who creates the challenge. And that we don't even do the challenges yet Whoops, it's been a while I guess.)
Ahem
Round 2 Declarations:
Conquest: Geffalrus attacks Snugglebunnies in Italia (VIII) from Noricum (IX).
Raid: Franks attack Stew101 in Germania Inferior (IV).

Yes, please wait with making challenges and setting up games until everyone has declared attacks and I have made a post about the battles. Thanks.

Round II (262-264 AD): Battle resolutions

Battles
1a. Geffalrus (Romans III, 1631 FP) versus
Snugglebunnies (Romans II, 1581 FP) in
Italia (VIII).
1b.
Geffalrus (Franks, 1600 FP) versus Stew101 (Romans I, 1589 FP) in
Germania Inferior (IV).
2a. Stew101 (Romans I, 1589 FP) versus
Snugglebunnies (Romans II, 1581 FP) in
Africa (XXIX).
2b.
Stew101 (Goths, 1600 FP) versus kronenblatt (Romans V, 1600 FP) in
Cappadocia (XXI).
3a. SnuggleBunnies (Romans II, 1581 FP) versus
Stew101 (Romans I, 1589 FP) in
Germania Superior (V).
3b.
SnuggleBunnies (Sassanids, 1600 FP) versus kronenblatt (Romans V, 1600 FP) in Arabia (XXVI).
4a. Aetius39 (Romans IV, 1578 FP) versus
Geffalrus (Romans III, 1631 FP) in
Macedonia (XVII).
4b.
Aetius39 (Alamans, 1600 FP) versus SnuggleBunnies (Romans II, 1581 FP) in
Agri Decumates (VI).
5a. kronenblatt (Romans V, 1600 FP) versus
Aetius39 (Romans IV, 1578 FP) in
Lycia et Cilicia (XXII).
Please note
- The player in bold above (i.e., defender (in Conquests) and the non-Roman attacker (in Raids)) creates the challenge in the FoG2 Multiplayer Lobby, always with himself as Side B (in order for the other player to immediately be able to deploy and make first round when accepting the challenge).
- Stew101: your Goths in battle 2b can include only infantry, since this is a Sea Raid.
- In order to create a challenge with An Empire in Flames armies, after having launched New Challenge and Create Skirmish, press Select Another Module and therein An Empire in Flames v3, which will make the An Empire in Flames armies available.
- All battles (whether Conquests or Raids) take the form of:
- Large (1600 FP) force size (adjusted for Roman factions by their players' current FP adjustments, as specified above in the respective battles)
- The defender (in Conquests) and the Non-Roman attacker (in Raids) decides the map type from among the alternatives for the defender province.
- No map re-rolls will be made.
- The faction routing the enemy or killing the enemy's C-in-C is considered the victor. If neither faction routs the enemy or kills the enemy's C-in-C, it is considered a draw.
- Battle outcome, once resolved, is posted by the winner, or the player having inflicted the most casualties, in a post in the campaign thread.
- Due to Christmas holidays, please conclude the battles within a six-week period, i.e., no later than January 16.
And
- In this second round an additional province will be taken control of by the victor (if any) in a Conquest battle.
- This will be in addition to any further additional provinces for the victor if killing his enemy C-in-C in the Conquest battle.
- For example (just an example, Jack...), if Snugglebunnies would get his C-in-C killed (again...) against Stew101 in battle 2a, Snugglebunnies will lose control of 4 (1+1+2) provinces to Stew101, since it would be his second time getting his C-in-C killed in this campaign. If the same would instead apply to Stew101 in the same battle, he would lose "only" 3 (1+1+1) provinces to Snugglebunnies, since only his first time his C-in-C gets killed. In any event, failing the death of C-in-Cs, the victor in that battle would gain two provinces.

The Roman Tribune - 3rd Edition
Worrying news has reached this paper, from the court of the one true Emporor Stewarius, of a barbarian invasion of those Eastern provinces of the Empire, currently under the yoke of another usurper of Imperial power, Kronenius.
Reports are coming in of a bold seaborne assault on Cappadocia by Gothic hordes, who seized the province and routed the eastern army.
The Goths are reported to have asked for a ransom in horses, which the usurper refused to pay. But he then insulted the Goths in parley, by telling them they could have all the three legged horses they liked. The enraged Goths, apparently to a man, prayed to their Gods and sought a ‘Glorious Death’.
Sources in Gothland are calling the clash that followed ‘The Battle of Bone Mountain’. Our Roman forces occupied a strong hill position, which the Goths attacked and they claim to have taken. The Goths are boasting that they had to climb higher than the Romans to reach the summit, as they had to climb up the pile of Roman corpses. Our soldiers fought well by all accounts, what they lacked was the leadership of a Caesar, a true emperor. The legionaries died bravely, the usurper did not. He was last seen abandoning one of his remaining cohorts to their fate, whilst he hid amidst a unit of skirmishers, before fleeing the field.
Citizens of the Eastern provinces, is this really the man you would give the purple too? Put this usurper aside and swear fealty to the true Emporor Stewarius and together we will drive the Goths from your lands and return the glory & peace of Rome to your lives.
All good citizens can rest assured that it is only a matter of time before the true Emperor unifies the Empire again.
Vivat Roma et Imperator
Standing With Ukraine.
