Tyrant Dionysii sends his commiserations to the brave citizens of Selinus who resisted heroically the rapacious armies of Carthage and though now condemned to oppression managed to give the invaders a good bloody nose. The Tyrant has vowed that this Pyrrhic victory for Carthage will be as long lasting as the lifespan of a Mayfly and " Liberation for Selinus ! " is now the cry around the hostelries and barracks of his benevolent territories
The continued childish grumbling of the Syracusans is not even an annoyance to the Carthaginian armies, occupied in their God-given mission of liberating the island to a future of glory as part of the great empire of the sands and the seas.

Stop Press !
Carthaginian spokesman at the Palace in Carthage claims :
" We had to destroy the town of Selinus to save it"
This will no doubt be of great comfort to the slain defenders of Selinus as they are welcomed by the Gods...

If there's to any comfort, my two battles are not going too well either.
Just a little
Also, the new rule seems good to me.

Aetius (Romans) defeats devoncop (Latins) 60-42 for control of the city of Tusculum
We were surprised a tiny minority of the population didn't want to become Romanized. Therefore those stubborn few took up arms upon a hill. Being Romans, we marched toward that hill but split up our force, attacking the sides and leaving the center for the Latins to show their bravery and come down and meet us on the open plain. There was a lot of heavy fighting but eventually the superiority of the legion along with some well-timed flanks helped rout the defenders. We were happy to see the Latins have such tenacity, therefore they are incorporated into the Republic with full citizenship.^^ GG!

Cingulum: TheGrayMouser versus dim30 (Umbrian), Mediterranean Hilly
dim30 (Umbrian) beat The Graymouser(yllirian) 44-14
The umbrian have seen the hostile Yllirian army coming soon in the morning. The battle takes place on the last hills before the city of Cingulum. The massive line of Yllirian thureophoroi assaulted the line of Umbrian citizen. Skirmishers clash was good for Yllirian but, with the help of a difficult hill, the right wing of Umbrian manage to get some fatal flanc attacks. In the center, Cingulum citizens hold their ground despise heavy losses.
A trophy of captured weapons have been ericted on top the cingalum hill to remember to the Yllirian despote that the free citizens of Cingulum don't fear any attack.

12 . Paestum: TomoeGozen versus GeneralKostas (Lucanian), Mediterranean Hilly
Paestum has finally been brought in to the civilised world of the Greeks. The extremely belligerent Lucanians refused to see the advantages of joining the Greek world and fought almost to the last man! The Greeks beat the Lucanians 69 - 45 .
Their remaining troops will be useful additions to the army of the Velian Greeks

7. Barium: dim30 versus Aetius39 (Apulian), Mediterranean Agricultural
dim30 beat Aetius39 40-9
With such bad dices for the apulian, gods have clearly choosen epirotes for ruling the city of barium. It looks like the reluctant citizens of Barium have been payd by Pyrrhus to lose.
Good luck for your next game Aetius, one thing is sure for me, you can't have worse dices results than in this game.

It seems that the only battle remaining is:
10. Capua: batesmotel versus TheGrayMouser (Samnite), Mediterranean Agricultural
Correct? How is this battle progressing? Much left?

Batesmotel (Samnite) beat TheGrayMouser (Samnite) 68-53
Capua has finally fallen after what seemed several turns of The Capuan garrison rallying almost as quickly as I was breaking units. Thanks for a good, wild game.

If any additional players want to join, now is the time. I believe that we've got space on the map for up to three more players, so if you're up for it, starting in round 2, please PM me. (It will most likely be possible in later rounds too, but the earlier, the funnier.)
