Uzbek: Judging by the pictures with airplanes , the First World War is waiting for us ?
That is 100% the fact. However, there will be no soldiers with sausages, sorry.
Turtler: Very nice indeed Sonja, and I look forward to it. Question: what approach will you be taking to campaign branching or the like? One of the weaknesses I felt for the old Kaisershlacht mod was the inability to choose between the fronts in 1914 (at least prior to the Grand Campaign 1914 work I did).
But in any case, I imagine you'll put together something really special.
The entire period (1914-18) will be divided into two parts, as otherwise it would become too extensive. First there will be a 1914-16 campaign and then another 1916-18 campaign is planned for later. The campaign structure will be less in-depth and more broad than usual.
At the beginning, there will be a starting scenario that deals with mobilisation. Here the player is given a basic stock of units, including special units that cannot be bought, such as ships. He can also generate some prestige in the process.
Then there is a selection in East14 (HQ), West14 (HQ), East14 Field Command, West14 Field Command and Navy. So it branches into 5 paths with different backgrounds. The examples shown above are from the path " West14 Field Command".
For 1915-16 (spring) there is then another choice, which even splits into 8 paths. So the player will have quite a bit of choice to immerse himself in many facets of World War 1.
At the moment I am working on the first scenario of the path Ost14 Field Command - "Gumbinnen". The Russian 1st Army is advancing towards Königsberg and is engaged in battle east of Insterburg.
So there are still some things to do. I will keep you all informed.

Damn. That sounds like an absolute dream. Thank you kindly Sonja, you are certainly one of the best mod smiths out there. (Certainly better than myself with my odd thoughts of campaigns, like perhaps a French, Danish, or Italian campaign submod for your DR2 materials).
One thing that might be of interest to you: have you considered a sort of prologue or interlude, covering Germany's sort of colonial conflicts like the Boxer Rebellion, Namibia, or so on? Of course each mod smith has their own approach and what you've taken on is already a beast, but I know I for one would be fascinated to see what you could bring to those subjects or even the post-WWI aftermath.
Still, one must have priorities, and you doubtless know what is best.

rubyjuno: Another old campaigner... I was also born in 1963 (my 58th birthday was in August).
It is very pleasing that people in my year here can also do something with this mod - great.
Today I want to present some screens for the continuation of D2R. They are from the two scenarios "Lüttich (Liège)" and "Longwy".

In the first picture you can see the still inexperienced own core troops storming the Belgian fortress city on the Meuse. The aim is to blow up the fortress belt and reach the crossing over the river.

The Belgian defence is tough and the penetration of the city is slow. To develop more pressure, a detachment has crossed the river to the north and is also attacking from the west side. This could become decisive.

The mission "Longwy" traces one of the battles that took place in August 1914 in the border area between France and the then German part of Lorraine. The French initially take the offensive, but are then stopped. Throughout the campaign, the player will be able to choose both German and Austro-Hungarian units as core troops and use them as desired in the missions. This is why an Austrian infantry unit also appears here in this picture.

After the own troops have taken Longwy, Longuyon and Virton, it is now on to the last primary objective. By the way, the black figure with the bomb symbol in the centre of the picture is a spy, a very useful special unit that can act as a scout or saboteur. He just shouldn't get caught.
Hallo Sonja.
Sehr sehr schön.
Ich gehe richtig in der Annahme, dass es (demnächst

) "Was Neues aus dem Westen" geben könnte. WWI ???

Ja, Hans ... demnächst. Gruss zurück an alle Spieler in dem schönen Thüringen.
Turtler: One thing that might be of interest to you: have you considered a sort of prologue or interlude, covering Germany's sort of colonial conflicts like the Boxer Rebellion, Namibia, or so on?
No, I don't intend to go any further. You said it yourself, you have to set priorities. But it's good that you're also developing ideas from existing material. I am confident that possibilities can arise. Ultimately, you have to decide for yourself whether you can motivate yourself enough for a certain idea to be realised. Whatever you choose, you will have to put some time into it. But as I said before, it also gives you back joy when you have the finished piece in front of you.
Yes, Uzbek, pies are also tastier and more digestible. Thank you for your links.

Kep _ I assume that you are asking whether the sequel to D2R will also include the Soviet-Polish war of 1919-21. I'm sorry to disappoint you. This modification will not go that far. As interesting as individual aspects of the Russian civil war and the marginal conflicts may be, I cannot let this work extend too far. I would get too bogged down. Instead, I prefer to concentrate on a detailed account of the battles of World War 1. It's better to do one thing right than to do many things halfway.
But there will also be a whole range of new units to go with this mod sequel, which will also be usable for a Russian Civil War campaign. Maybe there will be someone else who will find the time and motivation to create such a campaign out of it.

Once again some screens for the sequel to D2R. This time they are from the two scenarios "Tannenberg" and "Lodz" from the Eastern Path 1914. In keeping with the cold season, the battle here is against the Russian Tsarist Empire.
First the scenario "Tannenberg" with the well-known battle at the end of August 1914. The first picture shows the situation for the 4th round. The detail shows the first German corps of the 8th Army, which formed the right attack wing of the encircling battle. The attack continues eastwards via Soldau and Neidenburg.
Tannenberg - 7th round. Via Ortelsburg, our own 17th Corps advances southwards on Willenberg as the left wing. In the centre you can see the Russian headquarters in the cauldron that is forming. If you start it right here, Samsonov will not escape. On the left you can see a Russian plane attacking our reconnaissance plane (Taube). The 'Taube' had previously reconnoitred the area well.
The Battle of Lodz took place in November 1914. It is therefore not surprising to see a muddy landscape in this 4th round picture. It is the southern part of the scenario where I had a number of Austro-Hungarian units in action. It is not very far to Lodz, but there are 2 rivers to cross and the Russian troops are sitting in extended positions. The decisive attack will have to come from another direction.
Lodz - 5th round. The northern section is the focus of the attack. The first Russian line is almost shattered, Wloclawek (terrible place name) is about to fall. After that, the attack continues on Lodz via Kutno. The pace must be maintained, as a strong Russian counterattack from the direction of Warsaw must be expected.
An unusual unit from Austria-Hungary can also be seen in the picture. It is the Burstyn motor gun. This design actually existed as a planning study a few years before the First World War. It was developed by the Austrian officer Burstyn and represents a first draft of a functioning tank that was to have a crew of 3. But the Austrian military and subsequently the German military showed no interest and so not even a prototype was built. The idea remained in the drawer.
This special unit will not be purchasable in the mod, but it will be available as a special unit for the player with a certain selection. I will go into more detail about this selection in a later presentation.
... and don't forget - in 10 days it's Christmas. So Merry Christmas to all. And over the Christmas days, leave the 'weapons' on your screens alone and devote your time to the family.
Afterwards, you can go back to attacking the wretched little enemies.

Here again are some screens for the sequel to D2R. This time they are from the path for naval operations. Up to the Battle of the Skagerrak in 1916, there were quite a number of battles involving surface ships, which is why I have created a separate path for them in this campaign.
On 1 November 1914, the German Far East Squadron encountered a group of 4 Royal Navy ships off the Chilean coast. The 5 German cruisers were able to sink 2 British cruisers and conclude the battle victoriously.
Somewhat different from the historical course, in the 3rd round picture the British auxiliary cruiser Otranto has already been sunk after being sighted by the German light cruisers.
The light cruisers fulfil the task of reconnaissance in the campaign, similar to the historical course. They have a Recon movement and are therefore valuable figures. Once you have uncovered the enemy, this is a decisive advantage in sea battles in 'Panzer Corps'.
In the picture you can see the 5 German cruisers coming from the north. The British flagship "Good Hope" is still in the covered area to the south. In addition, the pre-dreadnought "Canopus" is approaching, but will not have any further influence on the battle as it is too slow.
After the setback at Coronel, the British Admiralty did everything in its power to hunt down the German cruisers. Two very strong battle cruisers were sent into the South Atlantic. A strong squadron of the Royal Navy gathered at the Falkland Islands. On 8 December 1914, the German squadron encountered this clearly superior opponent and was almost completely wiped out.
The picture shows the early stages of the battle during the first round. Graf Spee had intended to destroy the telegraph station at Port Stanley by a landing operation. This is also the task in this mission. The small force has already gone ashore. The reconnoitring light cruiser 'Nürnberg' has already uncovered part of the enemy fleet. In the historical course, however, Spee then broke off the attack and gave orders to turn east. However, he could not escape the faster British ships.
In the test game, I initially tried to win the scenario with the historical composition (2 cruisers, 3 light cruisers). Unfortunately, I had a similar fate as Spee in 1914: the Royal Navy shot up my ships. Since you can use 2 slots for core ships as a player, I added the battleship "Kaiser" and the "U9". Both ships and a number of others are given to the player at mobilisation. With this composition I was able to hold my own against the strong British ships. Of course, each player is free to choose whether he wants to play it strictly historically or with more balanced odds. Perhaps there is also a variant to manage it with cruisers only.
Only a few days after the Battle of the Falklands, the operation at Scarborough took place on 16 December 1914. The German navy undertook a raid on the British east coast to draw out the Royal Navy and provoke parts of it into a battle. The bombardment had limited success historically, but enemy ships could not be engaged. In the process, both sides were intent on luring the other into a trap. So it could have been a full-scale battle even then.
On the picture for turn 2 you can see the "Kolberg" laying mines together with the German battle cruiser squadron shelling the coast. On the small map for the overall view, you can see a group of British ships in the centre of the North Sea, which should cut off the German ships from returning to their home ports. Hopefully the player will succeed in bringing his ships back home.
The 4th example takes us to the Baltic Sea. Here, a massive German advance into the Bay of Riga took place in August 1915. The aim was to inflict as many losses as possible on the Russian Baltic fleet and to eliminate the British submarine base at Pernau.
The picture shows a large number of smaller and larger German ships approaching. The player has quite a few forces at his disposal here. Moreover, this is not a purely naval operation. Ground and air units are also used extensively on both sides. At the top you can see a submerged British submarine (E1), which has to fight off fierce attacks by light German units. At the beginning of the war, anti-submarine warfare was still in its infancy. A submerged submarine is not so easy to take out in this campaign either.

------------------
As with DAW and the first part, it will have German in the original text and an attached English text part. Those who want to can then translate these texts relatively easily into their respective mother tongue with the help of an automatic translator (e.g. DeepL) and insert them into the corresponding files. You have to pay attention to the control characters between the lines of text. But you already have experience with such text translations yourself.
Thank for all the kind words from everyone. They show me that my efforts are falling on the right ground.

Here are some new screens for the continuation of D2R. They are from the large scenario West-14, showing the entire course of the Western campaign from August to December 1914. Included is the Schlieffen Plan, which failed in the historical course. Here the player can do better than the German military leadership of 1914 and conquer Paris in the end.
In the first two pictures you can see parts of the German fleet north of Holland and the German attacking troops in front of Liège, which is heavily fortified. While the fleet should venture out into the North Sea rather cautiously, the army must proceed with some speed.
In turn 9 Liège has already been overcome and the advance on Brussels is making progress. Transport by train is crucial on this very large map. Although there is already truck transport, it is only slightly faster than most infantry. In addition, Belgian civilians hinder the German advance. On the strategic map, you can see how our fleet is slowly advancing. At the same time, the French in Lorraine become offensive.
While the German troops are pushing through Belgium to the North Sea, the fleet is also making some progress. Further south, the units are making slow but steady progress. They are advancing as far as Verdun. Here I have also included a few Austrian core units. They should have some 'fun' at this heavily defended fortress.
In turn 30, the attack by Belgium is largely completed. There is still fighting at Dunkirk and in front of Ypres. Here, British units are also dashing around. Now the alignment to the south takes place. At the same time, troops from the right wing are transported by rail from Alsace to western Belgium. Here they can be deployed more effectively. On the strategic map at the top right you can see how some heavily damaged ships have returned to Wilhelmshaven. These units have left the battle behind them.
After further fighting, the western enclosure of Paris was successfully completed in turn 61. The city is still heavily defended, but with the now somewhat more experienced own troops in sufficient numbers, it will only be a matter of time before the metropolis falls. East of the city you can still see a larger contingent of the BEF with their HQ around Field Marshal French. Even they will not be able to save Paris.
