Pre-fight plan for Rome was to push hard in the center with the legions, before the hostile warbands would have time to possibly regroup at the two large rough patches. As the hostile army also had lots of quality lancers available for their list, the regular Roman cavaly was set up far on the left flank and the Arab Camels far on the right flank, with the idea of pulling the hostile lancers away from the main fracas. As it was, the Dacians set up full on their left flank, with their cavalry in reserve, and moved even further towards the rough patches of ground on the Roman right. The Roman army thus began a slow march from the left with the legions, while the cavalry moved further up in the center. On right the roman skirmishers and camels began peppering the warbands and falx-men in the rough terrain, until the warbands snapped and charged out from their safety. After that it was pretty much just a mopping up, as Roman legions swooped in on the loose order warbands and made short work of them. A couple warbands successfully did punch through the roman lines, but the camels and irregulars were able to check them before they were able to run amok behind the roman lines.

My Romans defeated Gort's Byzantines 38%-62%

This game quickly developed into three separate battles after the Byzantine cavalry split up to divide the Roman infantry. The Romans easily won on their left flank, the Bizzies easily won on their left flank, leaving the central mini battle as the decider. This was much closer with some dismounted Lancers fighting very hard for the Bizzies, easily defeating several Legions, however a small advantage in numbers allowed the Roman to eventually prevail. Great game.
