Pre-fight plan for Rome was to hold center with veteran Legions, while the flanks would attempt to lure the enemy to close in, and then the center would swing to both flanks (as I thought the dacians wouldn't line up their loose order warbands in a line vs the legions). On left flank Romans had their heavy arty protected by mediocore legions and roman auxilia, on right flank the regular Roman Cavalry supported by irregular infantry. The dacians however lined up their warbands in the center, so the Roman center pushed in hard and both flanks advanced too so that the Roman center wouldn't be surrounded from the flanks. Both Roman flanks held long enough (though one dacian lancer cavalry got through and caused havoc behind the roman center until the skirmishers were able to hamper it enough) against superior troops and superior numbers for the Roman center to crush the Dacian warbands, and thus after a bloody battle Rome could call this fight a victory.
