It is the last day of the tournament today. How sad.

I have updated the league tables, but I will do the full round-up after any adjudications have been completed, so that may be Monday evening or Tuesday morning. There are 10 league matches to be finished and I just need to clarify with the two players in the Themed Event final whether one or two matches are done now. They have done very well as they have only had a week to play the final. That is out of a total scheduled 668 matches for this tournament.
I will be closing the current poll at 9pm (BST) and thanks to everyone who has taken part. I will be opening a second poll about the army allocation process in the next day or so and that will run for about a week. There has been an interesting debate about it in "The Rally Point".

2) Enemies of Rome will be replaced by another of the core sections we had in FOG1DL, namely Early Middle Ages. You can find the armies available for this section if you scroll back a bit in "The Rally Point".
Is there any chance this information could be put in its own thread?
I eventually found it on page 12 of 19 of the Rally Point!

Yes, OK. Once I have completed everything to do with this season I will do that.

And it's now over! Nosy_Rat (Hepthalite) defeats Ludendorf (Sassanids) 42-10.
So Nosy_Rat has beaten Ludendorf on the tie breaker by 32-26. (stockwellpete)

Divsion B
Batesmotel (Bosporans) 56% drew ggarynorman (Romans) 57%
Ended turn 23 due to ggarynoman having to stop the game a little early due to other obligations.

Division C
Brenmusik, German/Gothic ties with Stimovsky, Roman 3% to 6%
By way of explanation. Stimovsky had quite the nicest fort I've ever seen, hills topped with rough ground and a dense wood down one side. With four pieces of artillery, two heavy, the Romans were reluctant to venture out. My warbands weren't happy with the woods or the rough ground either. Some late action by light infantry in the woods gave me the edge. Another 24 turns might have produced a win for one of us. Do we still get a point?
This season you do.

If you have an unfinished match please report the scores and turns to me by PM as soon as you can. You can by all means complete the match as a friendly, but I do need the current score now for adjudication purposes. Thanks.

In a very close final, Nosy_Rat narrowly prevailed over Ludendorf by winning the tie-breaker 32-26 after the players won one match each. Well played Nosy_Rat!

The result of the first poll has shown that option 2 is the most preferred idea polling 40% of the votes. So from Season 3 onwards players will only get 1 point in a drawn match if they have caused at least 20% losses to their opponent. Thanks to everyone who participated in the poll.
Indicative poll concerning army allocation

There has been a full debate about this in The Rally Point in the last week or so. To summarise the three options . . .
Option 1 - this is the current informal system where I have a sheet of paper in front of me with the names of the players in a column with their army choices in order of preference on it, and I look to maximise the number of first choices and minimise the number of third choices without any regard to the skill levels of the players in the division. Players will continue to make three army choices with this option.
Option 2 - this is a compromise idea that emerged from the discussion in "The Rally Point" where we use a more formal procedure utilising the FOG2DL ratings to allocate armies (using the order of preference) to the lowest rated player first, then the second lowest rated player and so on. This is, in effect, a very mild form of handicapping, and its purpose is to reduce the number of situations in a season where a player might feel outclassed by both his opponent and his opponent's army and therefore be more inclined to play in a very defensive or negative way. Players will need to make four army choices with this option. The tournament organiser may intervene to assist a new player in very limited circumstances.
Option 3 - this is a completely random army allocation system where the order that the players receive their army choices is drawn out of a hat first, and then individual armies are allocated to players from their choices by a second draw out of a hat. Players will need to make four army choices with this option.

I am recommending that we switch to option 2 from Season 3 onwards.
