We Aristocrats applaud the Senate for it's wise choice. We will prove that it was not a foolish one. I believe we must reorganize the leadership in more than one front in order to best the enemies of Rome, but that we will think about in a few days.

I congratulate you on your victory but based on this
I wonder if his senility would now extend to feeling that a defeat for him in the election for consul must be answered by taking up arms to oppose such a result in order to obey the "true" wishes of the Senate that Senator Ericus imagines he hears???
I have heard of sore losers but never a sore winner.
You think I would take up arms against yourself, if Rome wished me too then yes I would.
Now get on with the running of Rome and let us all work together.
Yours sympathetically
Ericus
PS I was thinking of retirement but still felt that Rome needs me. Although waiting in the wings is Id Demonicariumates. He is my 1st cousin. Yes cousin Id:)

I see that Senator Ericus seems to have a little trouble with determinining propter hoc...post hoc. The campaign rhetoric he quotes below was clearly broadcast in the forum before the results of the consular election were announced. But that is all in the past now. Let us shake the magic slate and erase any ill feelings left from the Consular campaign. Let us now all go forward for the greater glory and fortune of Rome.

Well it seemed to me that you knew you had already won.
About 7 hours before the vote was cast.
Biased on what has happened so far, the strange thing is I wasn't surprised.
Oh yes and before you say I spelt based wrong, have I?

It seems to me that the Consul Batesmotel simply hires a better class of haruspex. And he has a magic slate! Truly we Romans are blessed with such leaders!

"Tradition, tradition! Tradition!" as our devout Juaean clients say.
Of course the Senate of Rome must respect the wishes of the gods as they choose to reveal their wishes as omens!

If you wish to base your spelt, I would recommend using standard ambush marker sized bases. Fortunately the rules make allowances for use of figures on non-standard bases so it should not be a problem if you have already mounted them on a different size base.

The 1st meeting of the new Senate will be on Wednesday 28th.
Each Consul is eligible to make 4 proposals, each Tribune for 1 proposal. But each Tribune may turn down one proposal by VETO.
Both Consuls and Tribunes have to send their proposals by PM (--> Demetrios), Deadline will be Thursday 29th, CET 22:00).
On Friday 30th, the Censor will publish the agenda, only fraction leaders may vote on each proposal by yes or no, Tribunes may use a VETO on one proposal.
Examples for Proposals, other suggestions will be censored, but if suitable will be allowed too.
Proposals:
Declare war on........... ( One of the Consuls will form a Proconsular Army and assign 3 subcommanders – costs – 4 pts to the Consul for supply of the Legions, each commander can win 3 VP in battle)
Sign peace treaty with........... (ends a war)
Establish new province of........( only available after a successful campaign)
Assign...........as new Governor of the Province..........( a Governor earns 1 VP +X every week, but won´t be eligible to vote as long he stays outside of Rome
Assign...........as Quaestor ( a Quaestor will command the urban militia to fight street gangs. In case of successful engagement the beaten leader of the street gang might be subject of public prosecution)
Distribute bread (means to fight the Cilician Pirates, cost -3VP for supply of the fleet, but can win 6 VP in return for victory at sea)
Assign.........as Proconsul to engage......( in case both regular Consuls are outside Italy to fight the enemies of Rome and the Senate declares war on a 3rd party, a Proconsul would have to be assigned for raising a 3rd Proconsular army)
Accuse..........of ..........( for example Corruption )
Replace Governor of .........by..........
Assign ..........as Dictator

SPQR - important
Political situation:
# Gallia Narbosensis is threatend by marauding parties of the Allobroges who already dared to plunder villages in the northeast of our Province. There is evidence for support by Helvetian tribes.
# Bithynia is lost to Mithridates due to the humilating defeat of our Legions.
# Rome suffers from a lack of supply resulting from the sea blockade by the Cilician Pirates.
# The war between Mithridates and the seleucidian Emperor Seleucus VII continues.
# Ptolemaic Egypt offers an alliance, they are hoping we could release their province Cyprus from the Cilicians.
# Sertorius still loots our two provinces in Hispania and already reduced some minor cities
# Several street gangs fight for control of the temple district of Rome
# There are rumors our italian allied prepare for foundation of an own state, we are afraid of another Social War.
# The Magistrate gotta prepare for a currency reform in the foreseeable future

Could an updated version of the map be posted soon? Also, you might want to make a recruitment post in the main forum, some people might think the campaign has already started and can't be joined, due to the high post amount. You should state in the post that it's a continuous one.
