A gentle (and the only) reminder that time has come for round 9's order giving and movement instructions and the 12 MP each of your armies have, so (for those who yet haven't done so) please send them to me through replying to my PM by Friday, January 27 (9 PM, Swedish time) at the latest.

  • Dreddradish: No movement instructions received.
  • shane30: Mountains with Roads cost 6 MP per hex. (You could have chosen the southern route if you would have reached closer to Enna. EDIT: We re-directed you the southern route instead. :) )
  • batesmotel: Hills with Roads cost 3 MP per hex, plus +1 MP if containing a River.

Hello if it is possible indeed it was the objective and the passage by the south seems much faster....
Thanks

Sure: I'll move your army #6 using the southern route, bringing you south-east of Enna instead.

14. Type B - Hipponium: Karvon (army 14, 1400 FP) versus shane30 (Greek or Lucanian, 1000 FP). Mediterranean Hilly

Karvon's invading Greeks defeated shane30's outnumbered defenders of Hipponium 49-16.

The defenders of Hipponium quickly redeployed on to the heights dominating their right corner of the field. The invaders carefully marched forward to invest the position. Some initial skirmishing saw off some of the defenders lights and drove the survivors up onto the hills. Our victorious lights peppered the enemy heavies briefly before falling back through the ranks of our own hoplites. As our heavies moved up, the defenders pushed forward along the ridge running along the edge, while gaining a temporary advantage of position, this overextended their line as they pushed some of our troops back. It took a bit of time, but we slowly shifted our reserves around to reinforce our left. Eventually, we were able to use our superior numbers to wear down and break some of these units on his right and then exploit the holes with our reserves.

Hipponium is now ours!

12. Type A - TomoeGozen (army 12, 1600 FP) versus dragmio (army 13, 1690 FP (1600 FP + 90 FP for Capital). Mediterranean Agricultural. dragmio sets up.

The Greek armies 12 and 13 did what Greek hoplites do best and slogged it out until near sunset with thousands falling on both sides. Despite an early advantage to army 12 the defenders replied most stubbornly to make a stunning comeback , The end result :- army 12 - 61% losses , army 13 - 62% losses , a bloody and ruinous draw!
A great game , thanks dragmio!

Dreddradish hasn't been around the forum since mid-January. Hope he's ok and doing well.

So I'm already now looking for a replacement to him in this campaign (Etruscan #18), for the next round.

PM me in case you're interested.

2. Type B - Volsinii: Aetius39 (army 2, 1400 FP) versus deeter (Roman, 1000 FP). Mediterranean Hilly. deeter sets up.

Aetius (Romans) defeats deeter (Mutinous Romans) 53-2

Our old friend Treachyous Betrayerous was trying to ferment dissention in the ranks, fortunately the plot was taken care of before it garnered much support.^^ GG!
