First of all, you put your challenge in the multi-player lobby so that is available to play. The settings required for all matches in the FOG2DL are available in the first post of each of the "challenges" threads. Then make make sure that you are using the appropriate thread for your match and put your challenge there so that both your opponent and the tournament organisers can see that a challenge has been made. This is particularly important should a match eventually go to the adjudication committee because of non-completion. Also send a PM (private message) in case the challenge that you posted in the thread is overlooked. Sometimes this will happen if the thread moves onto a new page after your challenge has been posted.

That is all there is to it. Sometimes players will just issue one challenge, on other occasions a player might issue 3 or 4 challenges at the same time. It is entirely up to you how you proceed. Only the Themed Event adheres to a schedule. All that is asked is that players try to arrange their matches fairly evenly across the sections they have entered rather than concentrate on just one section at a time.

There can be some tactical considerations to the issuing of challenges although not all players are concerned too much about this. For instance, what if you have a player in your division who has always beaten you? Is it better to play them at the beginning before they really get to grips with their army, or is it better to build up some confidence against someone you may beaten before?

Good question. No, you can put the challenge up on the system so that a player can pick up your challenge on the forum and then go straight to the game and get started. I will make that clearer in the original post. Thanks.

I don't understand your Example 2; your example includes a password, as if a challenge has been posted already, but how do you know which opponent to include in the challenge until you know which player it will be?

Wouldn't it be better to send the password in the PM only, instead of posting it in a more or less public forum? Theoretically everybody can accept the challenge after posting the password here.

You might think so but, in practice, I cannot remember it happening in the four seasons of the FOG1DL. I think players who enter the tournament are respectful of other players' arrangements.
