The Gallic army (300-101 BC) defeated the Samnites 355-272 BC by 43-11. The Samnites tried to beat the Gallic army to the top of an open hill but ended up caught on the downside slopes. Very well played by Aetius39.

EGL 300 Result.

Stew101 (Lysimachid) has won the challenge from Ericdoman1 (Etruscan).
Score 54% - 22%.

I've not used pikes a lot, so I'm really pleased with this result.

It could have been a lot closer, but I had a descendant of Hercules on my side and Eric had Italian goat herders on his.
One of my sub generals led a pike block into battle at a crucial hinge in the lines.
He took on three opponents, got flanked, held, held again, held again, rallied and then finally routed all comers...... What a guy!
Meanwhile my other pike blocks, assisted by a couple of cavalry units, could face off against mainly raw Etruscan hoplites and impact foot on a 1 to 1 frontage.
The quality of my units broke the Etruscan centre and Herculio did the rest on his own.

Thanks Eric, learnt a lot about using pikes.
Shame I have to now give them up in this league, for those rotten Etruscans!

imatson2527 failed to report the results of our game.

He won 58-60.

He deployed his infantry in three lines ala Zama which lulled me into not lookin at a nearby forest which was full of crappy mediums. Despite an overwhelming attack on his right, his left swarmed out and rolled up my unsuspecting flank. A fun game. I might add that this Bosporan list is actually pretty good.

The Carthaginians led by deeter have obliterated the Syracusans led by dragmio with 49-8. But the Carthaginian commander has fallen in the battle, much to the victor's chagrin and as a small consolation to the loser.
