The Romans had a strong position and both armies set up defensively. I attacked their left flank with the Hepthalite cavalry and harassed then with superior numbers of skirmishers. After sustained shooting the Hepthalite turned the flank and then I directed my whole army to the right. It was a slog and I slightly mismanaged the move to the right, getting my troops to tightly packed and letting the Romans get at some archers, but we destroyed the Roman left with elephants and got the win on the 23rd thanks to a few timely rallies

Stones1985 (Spartan 460BC with Greek Allies) defeats markleslie (Jewish 105BC with Roman Allies) by a score of 60 to 54.

A really tough and close battle fought around a couple of hills and some rough ground. Numerous units were hit in the flank and it was a constant slugfest. When the Spartans got on top some of the Jewish and Roman units rallied and came back for more. One Roman Heavy Cavalry unit was having particluar fun charging the Spartan flanks. They were just preparing for yet another flank charge when they ran out of luck and got mobbed by a load of Spartan light troops who shot them down to Autobreaking. This tipped the result the Spartan favour.

Thanks for the game.

anderarcos 11 Viking (Ireland) 900-1049 AC beat Afromullet Arab (Umayyad) 685-750 AD. 56 to 30. Scoring 86 to 30

The Viking and Irish troops formed along a hill in the form of a defensive belt with archers stationed on top and awaited the charges of the Arab cavalry, which could not break the ranks. When the cavalry managed to make small gaps in the defensive formation, huscarls and berserkers charged into the Arab infantry formations, while Irishmen and archers continued to attack the cavalry. At one point the lines broke and the different units began to fight, some from the flanks, others from the rear. However, the Vikings prevailed, being able to maintain part of their initial defensive formation and managing to avoid most of the flanking Arab cavalry.

Quite interesting and tactical game, keeping a part of wagons and crossbowben in the hill, the rest of my army in the valley started to play cat & mouse by my pikes & wagons vs landsnekhts & other high quality troops: moving back and to the flank avoiding a melee while shooting Triarii infantry & knights from the hill. At some moment of the battle, his troops moved so deep into defence lines in the valley, so i could do flanking from the hill.

thank you for the game

anderarcos11 Fatimid egyptian 1074-1171 AD with crusader 1155-1291 AD allies beat OmegaOm Mongol 1223-1241. 64 to 48. Scoring is 76 to 48.

The Fatimids and their Crusader allies managed to overcome the power of the Mongol cavalry by confronting it with a similar army, made up of missile cavalry and Crusader heavy cavalry. After the first shocks, the lines were broken and continued with the figths between the different types of cavalry, in which the Crusader heavy cavalry and their military orders were decisive.

Morat (German /Gallic) beat wellsonian (Roman /Numidian/Moorish) 52-26

Tough fight for both sides. German warbands looked to close rapidly with the legions, and get their cavalry and chariots round the sides. Roman elephants caused real trouble for the warbands, and the legions fought as stubbornly as ever. But the warbands managed to double up on the legions in a couple of places and find a few more flanks than their foes.

Thanks to wellsonian for a great battle.

Morat (Franks/Vikings) beat Fluidwill (Byzantine) 42-4

Battle where nothing went right for the Byzantines. Franks pushed forward in the centre with their foot. Frankish cavalry attacks on the right were initially rebuffed. On the left a mixture of shieldwall and lancers tied up and disrupted superior Byzantine numbers. In the end the fight in the centre was decisive and the Franks broke sufficient of their foes to claim the win.

Thanks to fluidwill for the battle.

anderarcos11 ... Roman 105-25 beat Fluidwill ... Macedonian 328-321. 46 to 12, scoring 94

The Roman army formed compactly between a small hill and the sea, posting missile troops in a small forest and in a small town. The Macedonian troops, mostly phalanxes, formed a long line, part of which was on a hill. The Romans adopted a defensive posture, wearing down the Macedonian advance as the Macedonians, confident in their phalanxes, advanced towards the Roman lines. The superior Macedonian cavalry took too long to try to outflank the Roman army, which hastened to prevent such a manoeuvre. When the Macedonian phalanxes, which had already suffered severe casualties, faced the Roman troops, they were attacked by them, falling quickly.
