We're closing on a final victor for Hillman, and it's looking a lot like Jcb riding his twin M5's CHIP's-style... unless Al pulls off some very fancy double KO's!
I realise that several of you are already involved in Arctic's Ortona tourney (not an attention-lite map, lol) and probably others too...
So, votes please...
1. Who is up for continuing on to Carpiquet* immediately, as soon as Hillman finishes?
2. Who would prefer to wait on Carpiquet* for a couple of weeks, giving the Ortona guys a chance to play out there first?
3. Who would prefer to bring in some new blood?
Let me know your preferences (sure, combinations are allowed

)
*So you're all forewarned, Carpiquet airfield is an asymmetric scenario, where the Allies enjoy MUCH more units, but the Germans hold seriously strong positions and MUCH higher quality units... Just like reality (to comply with the results from your last votes

)
I'm sticking around if you'll have me.
I vote to start Carpiquet as soon as possible (e.g., now). Morge and I will finish this weekend I think, both games.
New blood is always fun, I would not discourage that if someone wants in.

I'm in favor of keeping the momentum going. Even happier to have improved my standing to 'average'!
Jon, will there be a revised version to download? Need to ensure we're all on the same scenario before we start. I'm also happy to welcome new players but I'd keep the overall number of participants the same. Takes too long to cycle through everyone otherwise.

Thanks guys, Sounds like we go with Carpiquet straightaway... To whet your appetites, here's what's coming...
CARPIQUET AIRFIELD
A western gateway to Caen, Carpiquet airfield stood on high ground with surrounding woods. It was supposedly lightly defended by heavily outnumbered Hitler Youth SS, but their sheer zeal, fortifications, trenches, rapid mobility through interconnected underground blockhouses and excellent radio communications cost the Canadians time and desperate losses. Allies enjoy naval bombardment from the battleship HMS Rodney, Typhoon air support and medic. Germans have access to inland artillery, medic and rally.
Canadians: Force selection from North Shore and Queens Own Rifles regiments of 8th brigade 3rd Canadian infantry division, reinforced by Royal Winnipeg Rifles, and supported by Canadian 10th armoured regiment Fort Garry Horse and 79th Armoured Division
Germans: Force selection mostly panzergrenadiers of Meyer's 12th SS Hitlerjugend panzerdivision and AA/AT of 16th Luftwaffe Field Division, with armoured support from 1st Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler division

Hmm. I don't see many of those features on the map, but it is a fine-looking and likely challenging map indeed

Yeah, I would sooo love to be able to recreate trenches and interconnected underground blockhouses... Maybe something for BA2?
But if you look carefully, you'll see quite a few interconnected bunkers, and hey, what do you know, there's a fair amount of strategically placed dune grass between many of 'em...
With waves of Canadian riflemen taking on the cream of the SS, this promises to be a very different challenge for both sides...

Usual Ninja tourney rules... 20 turns... 5 flags... Most flags by turn 0 wins... Take all 5 flags wins at any time...

I'll be surprised if the Germans win often this time. But who knows, maybe having the elite forces will go a long way

Allies have 60 units including 24 tanks, Germans about 40 including 8 tanks...
Place your bets?

No need for bets. My mother was a gypsy and I have had a vision! The winner will be the player who's name begins with... 'J'.
The mists close in... the cries of 'I can't take it anymore!' fade away and I can see no more...

Unit numbers have been refined to give the Allies a 4-to-3 advantage... 64 Allied units attempt to defeat 48 Germans...
As the Canadian attackers, you are going to feel invincible, at the start... You have 30 infantry and 24 tanks... But use them wisely...
As Germans, you might also feel pretty comfortable... You only have 48 units, but they're the cream of Waffen SS... including five Panthers, three Tigers and four 88's...
Carpiquet field has been constructed as two concentric defence perimeters... an outer wall of forest and hedgerow, with only four access points... protecting an inner circle of interlocking rough ground, dune grass and bunkers (best I could do to replicated underground blockhouses and trenches

)... The map mixes narrow roads that attacking armour must use, with wide open space on the airfield proper...

Don't worry Al. The Allied ones won't last very long. The German ones, I'm genuinely not sure...
