Dreddradish Indian (Hindu north) 600 - 1049 CE defeats BobGanoush Byzantine 904-962 with Croatian allies 62 - 39

The two armies drew up facing each other with the Indians occupying a wide central hill and the Byzantines with their army split into two mixed cav and foot flanks split around a central wooded firebase of archers and artillery.
Under artillery pressure the Indians were the first to move and launched a probing attack on their left. Initial positive results quickly soured and the Byzantines were able to rout the attackers, however their long internal lines of communication prevented them from effectively supporting this victory and led to them becoming dangerously strung out. These scattered units were set upon by the Indian reserves (which included elephants that had been kept at bay by artillery) and defeated in detail. An opportunistic assault on the denuded Indian right showed promise but for a single unit of archers holding at fragmented until the elephants were able to arrive and provoke a general rout, sealing the Byzantine loss.

A tough game well played.

anderarcos 11 Florentine 1400-1414 AD beat wzfcns Castilian 1476-1497 46 to 21, Score is 85 to 21.

The Florentine army awaited the Castilian attack in a defensive position where crossbowmen, artillery and arquebusiers commanded a hill, while pikemen and cavalry defended the flat ground. Light troops slowed down the Castilian advance on rough terrain. The mix of cavalry, pikemen and projectiles caused many casualties to the Castilians, who were finally outflanked.

anderarcos11 Roman defeat ZeCid Roman 61-58
Score is 63 to 58.

Very close victory, where the winning Roman side defended some hills from which the archers and the artillery disordered the troops of the other side. There were several cavalry movements, which disrupted and put some infantry units from both sides on the flanks to flight, although finally, the victory was decided on the left flank of the winning side.

anderarcos 11 Viking (Ireland) 900-1049 AC beat mh5064 GERMAN 933-1049 AD with FRENCH 888-1049 47 to 12. Score is 95 to 12

The Vikings had the advantage by positioning their best huskarl troops between two woods, both of which were protected by missile troops and medium Irish troops. The Germans tried to outflank the Vikings by surrounding one of the forests, but the Vikings had placed shield walls there that prevented them from flanking.

Challenge1 ... Gallic 300-101 with Samnite Allies drew with Rob123 ... Carthiaginian (Hannibal in Africa) 202 - 46 - 52

Gauls lost 46% - Carthaginians lost 52%

A very tough fight as the score suggests. The gauls retreated in the hope their cavalry could outflank their opposing numbers but were only partially successful. When the battle lines met, the odds were fairly even but Gauls don*t like elephants and at the end of the day it was the beasts that made the difference. There were less than 5-6 units per side when night fell.

Thanks for a good game!
