lydianed (Jewish) defeated Najanaja (Hannibal in Italy) 62:47

The Carthaginians positioned themselves on a low hill with a stream running across the centre of the field. The Jews pressed forward and used their superiority in missilry to score some early breaks and largely win the skirmish fight. The Jews then attacked, uphill against interior lines which had a predictable effect. The Carthaginians got the better of the melee initially and their cavalry made definite nuisances of themselves and brought the scores level. In the end, sheer weight of numbers carried the day for the Jewish attackers. A good game.

Morat (Franks/Vikings) beat IMC (French/Vikings) 47-13

Early manoeuvring for position saw both armies pivot by 90 degrees and the French work to get horse on both flanks: with the Franks having to scramble to get forces into position. When the hard fighting started the Franks were lucky to get some of their better infantry and cavalry into the French spears in the centre. Franks got the better of the luck (lancers holding out against berserkers, and a tough double drop on the right flank helping get mounted units into the flanks of the infantry battle).

Thanks to IMC for a very hard fought game, played as ever in an excellent spirit.
