A day where absolutely nothing went right for the Spartans. They used the terrain well to force the warbands into a frontal attack - and then suffered a string of reverses, double drops and disruptions. The warbands then used the hole in the centre to find a series of flanks and force the win.

On a map with several large difficult plateaus, both sides deployed numerous medium infantry. The Andalusians also deployed many skirmishers, particularly light horse, that hampered the German attack. On the German right flank, their crossbow won the race to the plateau which forced many of the Andalusian infantry to attack uphill. On the German left flank where the terrain was more open, the more numerous German infantry and cavalry eventually turned the Andalusian flank. The Andalusian knights did heavy damage but were overwhelmed by the German heavy infantry supported by crossbows. Good game as always with Eric.

I managed to reach the crest of a large central hill before Konstantin and that made the difference. Although it was a very close game. Well played K.

Both Germanic flanks were protected by forest terrain which shielded them from all flanking bow-fire and hid enough flank protection units to surprise probing Indians and throw their advance off stride. Germanic artillery successfully disrupted several elephants which reduced Indian melee capabilities in the center of their line. Once German warbands negated threatening elephants, they quickly came to grips with and overwhelmed all Indian medium foot units opposing them. Good match, great opponent.

The terrain favoured the Indians with a couple of hills to deploy upon. The Northern Zhou came forward with cavalry on my right and a long line of mixed foot with cataphract in front spaced across the line. The centre and Indian right went fairly evenly with both armies making holes to punch through, but the Indians won decisively on their left as their bowmen and light infantry out-shot Northern Zhou foot and they had enough Close Fighters and Lancers to finish them. The elephants made a difference too - I thought Zifeng could have targeted them more in shooting, but I got them into contact fairly unscathed and while I lost one unit, other elephants punched through.
