Savoury sauce army to a newbie doesn't look like duck list. 4+2, 5+1 or 6s. Shooty army with a good sprinkling of supports. German city states gives more of same... French huegeot infantry provide some impact foot. If commanded out gives a good punch if mounted not around. Same as LOA. Seems a good choice. So why are these armies not seen as a positive for this year? With fun choice of an army, ill be outshot, but I can afford to drop a battlegroup or too... Well it will give me some room to move :)

Seriously why are shooty protected shot a bad thing?

i do like superior 5 and 1s with reg guns. you do need to be careful to dedicate support and generals though when decent horse are about. the descent from steady can be exponential if it starts. not sure about mix and match foot though. can be a difficult marrage when one bg wants to shoot and one wants to charge. have you finished your painting nigel? hunter.

Me thinks, German main course with a cheeky bottle of French red

Don
Afraid not quality of the French red and the compulsory sediment ruled against, already have far to much slow moving sediment in the army

cheers

Additional 4 foot BGs and another mounted bg completed yesterday. Today is the last mounted and final 4 foot bgs. Leaving art, generals and a baggage camp.

Looking forward to getting it on the gaming table friday... Then just need to how to make it work... Have a basic game plan, just need to understand the small print to pull it off... Oh I have the horse master trapped in the car for 5 hrs... Ill make his ears bleed :)

So, FOGR has become a culinary world tour with all armies described as some type of national dish.

Looking at Britcon, we have Sushi, Sauerkrauts, curry, roast beef and pancakes, savoy sausages, smorgasbord, paella, coq au vins, kajaik (!), haggis eaters, schnitzels, bacon slicers and the tea drinkers. However it seems pasta is not a culinary delight anyone fancies!.

Only now remains to find out what my first course is for Britcon - I fancy some sushi and haggis!! (Sauerkraut gives me an upset stomach!)

Why I looked at the army name on the same page, I have no idea.

My son lives out there now

thank you, you all are very kind... they are only table standard... no where near lurkio standard :) Already booked Warfare 2013, for outing 2. And they may even appear for final game (MK) of the one day series.

As I've caught up, hoping to do matching terrian with the same basing...

My silence does not indicate that I m spending my time working out a winning strategy rather I am in meditation considering the great questions of the universe before Britcon.
High on my priorities are these:

Will Nigel put his back out carrying his army into Britcon?

Is Don really Japanese or is that Sellotape he is using to make his eyes look like that? Indeed is he the head of the Britcon Yakuza?

Will Simon dress up himself in a full belted tartan plaid and bonnet to get into the spirit of his Jacobite Army? Indeed what will he wear underneath? Be afraid be very afraid.

Is it true that Richard checks everyone else's army list before deciding on his own list? Equally if a Phillistine woman shaved of his beard would he lose all of his wargaming skills?

Is Alasdair the anti Christ or just the anti pasta?

And most worrying of all will Spotted Dog be able to perform at Britcon after his owner takes him to the vet on Thursday? Indeed will he ever be able to perform again? Ah, the cruellest cut of all.

And finally, finally who has dared to copy my West Sudanese? There can be only one.
John

The good news is that I've finally been able to play a practice game (granted only at 500 pts but still) The bad news is that I'm still a bit sketchy when it comes to the rules (event thow they are well written Richard :). So first i want to apologize to whomever I'm drawn against the first few games, it is likely that ill be slow and make loads of simple mistakes ( hopefully the easy points you pick up compensates). And also if anyone has the time/ energy to play a practice game with me before the tournament it would be appreciated. Ill be arriving in Manchester Tuesday afternoon and got nothing better to do then to play, ill gladly throw in a pint or two to sweeten the deal :)

so you wont rise to violence against alasdair but you will put the evil eye on nigel then eh? obviuosly running sacred of the big battalions but dismissive of the many horsed one's horse

speaking of violence, don will be no doubt now checking the morning mail for your severed pinkie as penance for your insulting his oriental fizzer - dont disappoint him.

as for encouraging simon(e) to dress in a skirt for the weekend - thats even more below the belt than enquiring what he'll be wearing below the belt

what a slur against our umpire, the guy who makes the calls, the guy who holds your wargaming destiny in the plam of his hands, the guy who .... well you get the idea .... I for one would wish to completely dissassociate myself with these remarks as i suspect will al competitors who wish to do at all well. PS how much is it to watch the philistine woman shave off his beard?

Good old alasdair, friendly old alasdair, helfpul old alasdair - now transformed to the anti christ. are there do depths you will not plumb? i can almost hear the whinying and snorting of the caged beasts straining to wreak revenge. The horses too!!!!!

and then to my good self. the cruellest cut of all eh? maybe ...... but possibly the unkindest cut of all. an innocent bystander, a life long public servant a faithful and true friend. if any one of these attributes was true it would have saved me from derision but sadly that was not to be so i accept my lumps.

but richard - poor richard, has never clicked a mouse in ire at you yet still you have a go at him for the perfectly reasonable practise of choosing west sudanese, an army you yourself abandoned, hoplessly seduced by the hapsburgers. there are many amongst us how find inspiration in the trails blazed by our betters why i am one myself having learned from the guy who makes the calls, the guy who holds your wargaming destiny in the plam of his hands, the guy who .... well you get the idea ....

see you at the basho folks. hunter

dissmissive of my big poor battlegroups... yes many will prob die.. however, while you are smashing them... a poor bg on a flank charge is still a ++ ;) and who to say there wont be more than one coming in one after the other :)
