Ok, I'll start recruiting for an Alexander the Great themed tourney and see what takeup we get.

Anyone interested please post with your army selection from the choices below, please give a preference as to what army pts total you would prefer to use, most popular figure will be used for the tourney.

Later Hoplite Greek
Alexandrian Macedonian (Only army allowed to use an Inspired General)
Thracian
Skythian
Later Achaemenid Persian
Classical Indian

cheers
Matt
How many points? I'd prefer 500 than higher.

Hi Chris

In the post I've asked for feedback on preferred army pts totals to use, most popular figure will be used. I'm also considering not using the double move option for this tourney.

cheers

Put me in for the Late Achaemenids. Are you planning to use FoW?

I'm in.

Alexandrian Macedonian.....in theme.

700 points...I've had my fill of 500 point matches, 700 have a more epic feel and different battlefields.

I'd vote for FOW and Double Moves.....I've got too used to them......

I'm in. (Must be a sucker for punishment.....)

Later Hoplite Greek, please.

Prefer 600-700 pts, but I can live with 500.
Also prefer DM OFF/FoW ON, but can live with and without either.

Cheers,

Lars

Well, i'll try my hand a shooty army
Skythikon it is

FOW yes
DOUBLE MOVES hmmm, would be interesting to try without, it has been so long....

I'm w Davouthojo on AP Size, had my fill of more than enough battles @ 500
600 is ok
700 Why not!
(hey D, I am almost positive Alex is maxed out in the 600 range, that includes all the best leaders money can buy, maybe you should test out the dag generator before you finalise your vote :) )

Only one plyer per army list? I only see six. If more than one, I go pikey too. Otherwise, no preference. 600+ and prefer both FOW and double moves.

500 and 700 are both better than 600. 600 still uses the same set of maps as 500 and gives many armies wall to wall troops. (I still have nightmares about fighting 600 points of Illyrians!) I'm neutral on double moves and would vaguely prefer FoW off (just because of the hassles of undo breaking.)

Hi, I'm interested in LHG 600 points Fow and 2* moves

tgm got me worried, so I just checked what points the lists max out:

Macedonian 900
Skythian >1000
Thracian >1000
LAP >1000
LHG >1000
Indian 900

I also checked out the map sizes and the 50 wide maps kick in at 750 points, not 700
450 pts & under = 30 wide x 30 deep
500 pts - 700 pts = 40 wide x 30 deep
750 pts & over = 50 wide x 30 deep

So, can I up my suggestion to 750?
>New maps, with flanks
>No horde problem, every army is a horde!
>Historical armies, with still some room for army selection (especially the lists with allies)
>Epic battles, not dependant on one dice roll - and since its a knockout, half of us only play once, may as well be epic!

Carve new ground...500, 600, 700 has been done before.......

My bad, didnt mean to worry ya, got IF mixed up with some of the ROR pike armies that can barely reach 700... BTW where are you getting that data for the map sizes? i am good with 750 if that means the next "upgrade" in maps.... Of course since ive chosen Skythia you could say i might be biased for more room to slide around in :D

Count me in

I am good to go with a Thracian army at 750 pts. Yep the map is bigger and wondering if the Thracians could field an army that size. By all account the various tribes didn't like each other that much. Pray for forestry vs the mouned armies and the other armies.

Thanks Matt for another KO comp.

Thinking of an enemies of Mid Republic Rome based around 235 BC. Swiss system, so at least evrybody can play X times and limited turns if possible, prob 12 turns and using the % scoring system so max score would be 100 but again everybody should score something rather than a 0/zero. Depending on numbers of player, starting with 4 games each, maybe up to 6. Wait for the LOEG season 3 to finish.

The Swiss system eg Player A 75% vs Player B 37%, C 67% vs D 100%. Next game would be D (100%) vs A (75%) and C (67%) vs B (37%). The players with the nearest scores will play against each other in consecutive rounds. It means that if you have ahd a bad 1st round you can still do well. BUT it eans everybody plays X games.

Cheers

Might I suggest using the LoEG season standings after it ends, to use as the first round seed?

Ok, I'll bite. Bigger battles sounds too fun to pass on.
I'll check out the armies when I get home from work but one question:
No other Indian list allowed but classical?

I'm in too if there is room. Will try Later Hoplite Greek for a change.

Hi hidde, yes I'm afraid only the Classical Indian list is allowed as it's the only Indian list that's given a contemporary time frame with Alexander. Also want to keep the lists availabe fairly restricted as theirs a host of others that could be included i:e Illyrians, Spartans etc etc, so just the lists I specified above for this one please.

Possibly ten players signed up for this one so far, hopefully can get another six to sign on and get started.

Cheers
Matt
