Can you let us know how experienced you are at BA? How many AI games played? How many MP?
We try to keep tourneys down to 5-6 players because everyone has to play everyone else twice (more than 6 and it gets a bit of a slog).
We'd be happy to have you, if we have dropouts...

Download the GJS'44 Open Tourney campaign, and maybe post your own Sword tourney... It's an awesome assault/defence map (see our earlier games, this thread)
Get 3-6 other players to join you. I can setup a spreadsheet for you which will automatically update your scores and rankings, etc

Until you can join/start a new tourney, play lots of MP on good maps that you might tourney on. You'll discover that experienced players, eg. GWS, know the regular maps like Christmas Surprise, Clash of Armor, Desert Anything inside out, so you'll get your ass kicked if you haven't practiced

Amaris' Ortona MP or the GJS'44 Caen or Bayeux maps are excellent training for urban fighting... GJS'44 Open Tourney Sword is great beach landings...

I had a dumb idea to consider in future rounds; handicaps by total wins from previous tourney rounds into NCAA brackets, lol.
That would open the playing field a bit by having say two brackets playing. New guys would enter as the 16th seeds, lol.

I'm more concerned that you might gang up on the rest of us, lol, Justin!

Btw don't worry that your 5-0 wins show as "NM" (not meaningful) on our rankings for now... It's because the spreadsheet only calculates win/loss ratios once a player has finished at least six games... Once you go 6-0, you're going to show as 6.0x win/loss... SCARY!!

I've put up Hillman 2way games, both with pword chips to help you on your way...

Quick update: am in early moves of final three games. Me as Germans against jcb989, jonc and morge4. Fortunately not all at once!

All three enemy commanders have strongly weighted their right flank, leaving their left hanging in open air. Against morge4, I jumped on this at once and sent three tanks charging into his flank... only to have reaction fire take them out at long range!

Am now fighting a rearguard action with satchel charges, mortars and the occasional cow. (Monty Python reference)

Allies (morge4) narrowly defeated by Germans (JohnTindall). His emphasised his right allowing me to attack his left flank. One Firefly blew away three tanks in my counterattack, and he then circled left to capture the central bunker flag (first that I've seen). But I was able to recapture it and with only a handful of turns left, a rare on-target artillery strike opened the way to his well-defended HQ flag. Good game and well played!

Good morning all. Due to positive life changes I am unable to provide the commitment to play the tourney games in a timely fashion and will thus with regret have to withdraw as delays on my part will delay overall team progress. Many thanks for your patience.

My decision is also weighed by the fact that I am not, by any standard, a good player (mainly due to my lack of in depth understanding of the game mechanics coupled with an erratic playing style). I have learnt a lot from you 'ninjas' and thanks for that, so I will continue playing casual mp games as I really enjoy the game. I will continue to download the forthcoming maps.

My intention is to log on to my open games and surrender. I hope that is an acceptable way forward?

Suffering server issues so can't access my current BA battles, but I observe that my two games (aka severe torture) versus Jcb have finally moved to "completed"...

I'm 99% sure that both wins have gone to Jcb... As Allies, I was stubborn to continue attacking an initially successful weak point despite the known relocation of two 88s and a series of appalling dice throws... As Germans, I was rather foolish to bring half of my forces over the river, to rush for the single Allied flag, in exactly the same game where my opponent decided to deploy everything except one Sherman, one scout and one HMG on the same side as his flag, doh!... That might have been survivable had I followed JT's smart reaction to me when I did that, by staying on the other side of the river and guarding from distance... But I foolishly kept sending in more and more fresh forces (mostly to die... Anybody remember Stalingrad??!!).

Well deserved wins Justin... On the basis of my shameful fails, I'm demoting my GJS'44 rank to Lt Colonel (from Colonel) and promoting Jcb989 to Colonel (from Lt Colonel)... For those who are curious (and for newbies curious to check out the experience of future opponents), I'm going to release, "tourney verified" player rankings at the end of each round...

Hi Ninja team - I have now surrenderd all my tourney games. I did feel that I had a good chance to win my German game against Al, but in fairness I surrended this as well - we shall never know..... But in reality I could not, can not maintain the level of committment that Jon rightly pointed out that any tourney player needed to exhibit.

Many thanks for all the games and for the tips, tricks and learning curve. No doubt we will combat again in the general mp game space.
