I have the feeling that crossbowmen fire have pretty much the same effect as longbowmen´s, is there any difference statistically?

Ahh you poor deluded English type.... we Frenchies have outclevered you silly English k-nigits once again. WE are not making the run away but have decided to visit the southern ports of our Province, the spring is the time one usually goes south to smell the fleurs and frolic with the women. We leave you in the north, where the summer plagues will soon set in and the foul vapors will bring sickness and disease to your ranks. enjoy your stay but try not to make it the messes as we shall be back again soon enough.

Sir Stephen
It seems that the Frenchies are difficult to pin down in the South too. Failing to accept a challenge will not make us go away you know! :P
At leas they are playing the historical part so to speak. The French spent most of the Hundred Years War hiding in castles. ;)

Yes - Xb have -1 POA to non-armoured foot, and a bunch of other things - they are not as good at hitting fast-moving targets

You silly English K-nigit type. You think we are afraid to accept your challenge, hah! I accepted this challenge you sent to me but because of your running about with your heads stuffed into metal buckets for some reason the game will not accept my acceptance and it will not launch. I am suspecting that since you silly English types can not add up the simple numbers and sent a challenge at 800 points (of which neither side has such a vast and huge type army) that may be the reason the game will not launch.

I therefore slap your silly bearded face with the metal gauntlet of war, and have sent you a challenge with the same password that you can accept if you are daring, or continue to hurl insults at us brave French types. Perhaps a battle set up with the much more reasonabluh troop strength will not be causing the confusion to the P du C and we can get this here battle on the road so I can capture your silly metal encased animal feeding trough upon your shoulders and make some extra cash by ransoming your unwash-ed smelly hide back to your peoples, since they would be not bright enough to say "no we don't want him you can keep him" no doubt.
So either accept this challenge of properness or I will be forced to return and taunt you again :P

Maybe, since the army size limit is 700, all battles should be set to that, but you may end up with only 300 actual pts in your army. Otherwise, opponents gain a bit of pre-battle knowledge. :)

It may not accept the game since one side is not at the maximum set points, The challenge was set for 800 and neither of us is that high so that may be why the game has bugged and wont launch

hmm...LW battles have been running so...with less than the amount....but maybe if both sides are below??....shouldn't matter...i'll set up one at 400pts but will use less....you do the same and we'll see...password: testy

I tried it at 350 points it wont launch. I grabbed a 400 point army it launched no problem. My guess is that at least one army has to be equal to whatever the point value of the game is, so posting a challenge and then both players not meeting that army limit wont allow the game to be launched.
Now if the king of England wants me to put together a 800 point army I will be more than pleased to do so at once and then we can get the whole slaughtering of the K-nigits on the go

Hmmm....

So maybe the campaign mod will need to tell one side they are the larger force and have them issue the challenge at their point size. Could lead to a bit of pre-battle knowledge for the defender...

I guess the larger army will have to post the challenge so the MOD will have to inform whoever has the larger army to post the challenge, and then let them inform the smaller army what the password is etc.
At least now I know why I could not make with the battle against those silly English K-nigit types. Obviously King Edward has a much blown up big head, and was dreaming of the day he can invade with an 800 point army.

Hmm... I see that there is abug in the DAG. The English army are definitely worth at least twice the French army... :P

You both need to make sure the armies are set to the same max. points. 700 would be best since it's max size for armies...so if all battles...no...if all our armies are set to 700 but use less, we should be good.

that would also avoid any pre-battle info gathering since everything would look like it is 700pts

I think the easiest way to do so the attacker doesnt have to guess is: A: what is the largest size army that can be used in the campaign? 800 ap right?
B: regardess of what the actual ap value of your army , defender or attacked, both create an 800 size army and then reduce the troops till you get at or below what your true army size should be
name it apropriatley so you remember Ie "350 100year Army" or whatnot (because it will display in your list as an 800 pointer)
shouldnt really matter at this point who issues the challnege

From the rules:

"3. Battles

700 points Maximum for armies. We will use 700 as the DAG size for challenges.

- Upon entry to a neutral or enemy province one of several things takes place.
a. If an enemy army is present, and offers battle, a DAG battle is fought. ..."

I know I can't keep the campaigns straight anymore.!!!!

Yah I think were all too old and our brains are getting full of campaign rules etc, the hair is turning greyer but the grey matter is getting harder, so will make sure my 100YW armies are all set to 700 points then..... :?
