Hi cw58,

huraaaaaa! That worked! Great! I am happy and learned something new and can continue with MPC40 with my core units. Thank you very very much!

So glad it worked for you. I know how frustrating it can be to play a whole campaign and then not be able to continue with your core and all their hard-earned experience. Good luck with MPC 40!

@Nico,
Just want to say thanks for the updated MPC 35-39 campaign. I really enjoyed the pre-WW2 scenarios, especially the Spanish Civil War battles. Thank you for all your hard work.

.... hmmm. I was a bit too fast claiming success. What happend? I played the first mission of MPC40 (with my core units from MPC35-39). Regarding the mission objectives, I decided to go for the MPC40 option and not for the DLC40 option. Everything went fine and I was able to achieve a decisive victory.

BUT at the end of the first mission, I was straightly redirected to the PC main menue. No chance to continue with the campaign. I then checked my savecore files and found, that no savecore file has been created.

Any hints or ideas what could have gone wrong here?

Well, that's no good :(
Off the top of my head, a couple possibilities:
The campaign.pzdat file could be corrupted. Did you edit it using Excel (or something like that) or just edit with notepad? An extra space could cause all kinds of trouble.
And then are you using the same equipment file for both campaigns? Meaning, the stock eq file that was in the campaign or an eq file of your own making.

If either seems a likely trouble spot, make adjustments and restart the '40 campaign but use the cheat code (endscn 0) to win the 1st scenario and advance to the 2nd scenario. That will save time while you troubleshoot. I would look at the campaign.pzdat first. Seems like something is off there, probably right after the GUID. Open the original and your modded file in minimized windows so you can see both at the same time. They should look identical except for the GUID you swapped out.

That's all I can think of for now. Good luck!

Hi cw58,

thank you once again for you ideas and suggestions! I opened the campaign.pzdat with the notepad and it looks as follows:

FormatVersion 1

# Entry points
# Name Label in campaign path Description Side Nation Starting prestige Display name
Weser 24 "More Panzer Corps DLC II v1.2 0 0 1000 More Panzer Corps content '40 Grand Campaign {CE9F2E2A-59C1-4c9f-8E85-A3D5F7844651} END_SAVE_CORE

Can you see anything that does not look as it should?

I tried the endscn cheat, but that did not help. I had the same problem as before: I won the scenario (DV) and after the de-briefing screen PC jumped straight into the main menue and did not continue with the next, second mission. And once again, no savecore file was created. I guess, that this is the problem. "Something" prevents the game from creating a savecore file and go on with the next mission.

I just tried something else: I started the MPC40 from the beginning WITHOUT importing my core units from MPC35-39. I then ended the scenario with "endscn 0". The result was the same: After winning the mission with a DV and the de-briefing screen, I was directly redirected to the PC main menue.

Yeah, it seems like your campaign.pzdat file is corrupted. I just tried it and everything works normally. I even modded the campaign.pzdat with the savecore GUID that you posted above and it works; goes right to the Bergen/Oslo choice and not back to the main menu. I don't get the option for the importing the save core because I don't have it but the game proceeds like it should.

I should touch on a couple things from your post. The game will only do a save core at the end of a campaign, not after each scenario (and only if the designer specifies it). The core, once loaded, just carries over automatically to the next scenario. And the ENDSCN cheat was just to save time in isolating the problem which seems to be in the modded campaign file.

What you posted above looks ok but sometimes spaces, etc. don't show up in posts. And the problem is probably after that first line anyway because you can play the first scenario but nothing else.

I suggest going back to your original file without modding and try the first scenario again (use the cheat). If it proceeds normally, then try again with a modded file. But you'll need to mod the original file again from scratch. If you're editing in notepad (?), try copying your savecore GUID (w/out the spaces), then highlighting the old GUID and pasting right over the top of it. Try leaving the old brackets and just copying the letters/numbers inside the brackets to be sure you're not getting anything extra. No need to hit Enter or anything else, just save. Again, back up the original :)

Let me know how it goes ....

Hi cw58,

thank you once again for your very helpfull hints and ideas! At the end, I decided to make a fresh re-install of both MPC campaigns, like Nico said in one of its posts (without JSGME). Then I loaded the last MPC40 save at the end of mission one and finally everything worked well: Bergen/Oslo loaded without any problems and I could continue MPC40 WITH my core units from MPC35-39!!! Great!

Thank cw58 for your help and Nico for making such wonderfull campaigns, that are a joy to play! Thank you guys!

I'm glad it worked out in the end.
Never use GME to load scenario/campaign files, it does have a tendency to screw up save cores.
Only use GME for a custom equipment file with custom made units, like the excellent Soviet Storm campaign.

Let me know how you fared in MPC 39 and 40.

MPC 41 development news.

The first four scenarios are ready.
Operation Barbarossa kicks off in the fifth scenario. This scenario is ready for testing. Once this is done, i am going to release those five scenarios for community testing and general feedback.
MPC 41 will ask for a MPC 40 save core but i am going to place a starter's army for those who don't have a save.
The fifth scenario contains the "almost obligatory" Super Rudel script but will only trigger when the "reconnaissance flight" Stuka is deployed at the deployment fase, just like in DLC 41.
I hope to have those five scenarios wrapped up before i leave on vacation next week.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Cheers.
Nico.

MPC 41 v0.01 is available!

The first five scenarios are now available to the community.
1. Belgrade
2. Thermopylae
3. Athens
4. Spoils of war 2 (DV in Athens)
5. Raseiniai

MPC 41 can be played with a pre-set core and an imported MPC 40 core.
The Super Rudel appears in scenario 5 if the "reconnaissance flight" Stuka is part of your deployed and imported core army.

The download for MPC 41 can be found in the very first post on page 1 of this thread.

Make a small effort to be more than just a viewer of this thread. Feedback is appreciated.

Hello Niki!

As always, lot of thanks for your continued efforts in modding Pz Corps... I started a play through of you modded content in order to help a little, if possible...
I decide to start right from the beginning and loaded the MPC 35-39.

I could complete the first scenario without a problem...
On the second one, I could not obtain another result than a miserable failure. It is hard to believe that no one reported the problem yet, but, on the other hand I believe I carefully followed all the orders issued to me by high command while executing this second scenario, and then I always obtained "failure" and was invited to start the campaign again...

I explain here what did I do and what were the results:

- I started the scenario with two Kradschutzen units, bought an Engineer Inf Unit and a Pz I tank. At this moment my core was composed of four units.

- First, as instructed, took the tree main objective cities and their flags turned from white to German...

- Then, attacked and destroyed all the allied structure units (oil pumps, hangars, minefields, supply depots...) situated inside the four areas rounded by "A" marked hexes... There were game messages telling me that there were remaining less and less structures, and a last one indicated that all structures were eliminated.

- After that, following the new instructions, I positioned every one of my four units in one of the german-flagged hexes (all of them showed "Garrison" when hovered by the mouse cursor). No units were out of the garrison hexes, and none of them were in the previously white flagged main objective hexes, which at that time showed no flag, but a small building icon enclosed by the golden rectangular little frame.

Notwithstanding all that, all I could obtain was a "Failure" final result and the end of the campaign.
Am I missing something? Or is really a bug there?

By the way, another minor thing: If you fail to take the first three main objective in a determined number of turns, the game "ripple-sends" the player the three "there are x structures left" in the same turn... I don't know if this is intentional or not.

I hope this is helpful to you.

Greetings!!

Niki:
An update... I re-started the campaign, this time I purchased three more units for the second scenario, so I could clear the allied structures earlier and had all my units placed on garrison hexes by turn 12... And got a Decisive Victory. The two previous times, I achieved that last objective by turn 15 or 16. May be this was the reason for obtaining a "Failure" end result? If this is the case, I suppose the player must be alerted about this deadline... :D

I also had an issue with the 2nd scenario in the '35-'39 MPC, getting a fail the 1st time thru. It's been several weeks since I played it so I can't remember exactly what the problem/solution was but I seem to remember being confused by the directives, not really knowing what I was supposed to do. But overall, the campaign was very good.

Last night I started the MPC '40 and finished the 1st scenario. I am a casual player (definitely not expert) that plays for fun and relaxation rather than extreme challenge. Feedback on this scenario: It's a fun scenario, turned into a bit of a race against the clock because I deployed too much of my force in the south with a smaller force in the north. Then had to move the southern force via naval transports north. And every time I thought I had mopped up all resistance, I would find a lone infantry unit hiding in the mountains. I got a decisive on turn 14 (of 16) but I think the balance is pretty good. Easy enough to tweak the difficulty using the game settings and sliders.

The thing that I really like about the MPC scenarios so far is the size of the maps. They seem bigger than the DLCs (at least to me) and give you more room to maneuver, your units don't have to go looking for that one clear hex to land on. Plus more decisions about how to deploy your units. Looking forward to the Bergen scenario! Thanks for making this available. And hopefully I'll get around to MPC '41 before I die of old age

This can be a very tough scenario. There's a lot of very bad weather, which hinders both scouting and combat, so it's easy to miss a unit on land and extremely difficult to get all the naval ones. I think it's good having DV targets that need bold decisions and a little bit of luck but MV should normally be achievable as long as you pay attention to goals and don't do anything too daft.

Just finished the MPC '40 campaign and gotta say, that was a blast! Thanks, Nikivdd, for putting this campaign together.

I don't really have any negative comments to make about the campaign so I'll tell you what I thought were a couple of the positives.

I've said it before but I like the big, wide open maps. Having to rumble across the terrain, breaking through the occasional strongpoints, on your way to the main objectives before time runs out, really makes the term "Blitzkrieg" come alive for me. :)

Another positive: the pre-mission briefings are well written and definitely a plus. I also enjoy the after-mission report that relays the events that occurred during/after the actual, historical battle. I'm learning stuff!

Finally, my favorite scenario had to be Abbeville. Forging a crossing was tough enough but the counter-attacks really made it ..... exciting? Interesting? Especially the attack from the northwest, caught me totally by surprise and strung out. Had to scramble for a few turns to contain that drive.

So, once again, thank you for all your hard work. I'm looking forward to MPC '41.
