to reduce the wild swings in die rolls that drive people crazy, you could implement a simple function whereby a group of rolls cannot repeat a value. For example if you roll 2 first, 2 will be blocked from the next three rolls (except maybe for re-rolls). that way, no more 1,1,1,2 or 5,6,6,5 (you can still get 4 hits with lots of positive POAs and a lucky re-roll. At least make it a game option.

Might look at beginning LOEG season 10 in a few months.

Any idea (educated guesses) on actual release of the completed and fully tested V2?

my guess is as good as yours. release dates are always optimistic.

i hope the new version will not overwrite the present version as i want to keep playing it until the new version is stable. this should be do-able as they are for all intents and purposes different games, in which case there is no fear that a tournament is cut short by the release of V2.

I'm not a software developer but i've been around computer programs long enough to know that nothing comes out bug free, it's even truer with a one man development team like we have (essentially) here. i can't imagine slitherine throwing a lot of resources in here since the game will be free to all previous owners.

I just log in every day hoping for word on a due date. I too hope that this will open the flood gates for the other FOG wargames to go digital in due course.

Same here. Beta testing is supposedly going on now but there have been no reports of progress. (Crickets chirpping...)

New release date for Wolves From The Sea:

01/05/2013

This might indicate that we have to wait for FOG(U) at least two more tingly months ... :|

Greetings from an occasional lurker,

Does anyone know if there are any current (if long range) plans to come up with a digital game version of Field of Glory Renaissance? I'm a solo gamer fascinated by that time and those rules. Nor do I have space to set up a game table with my quietly moldering 25mm's from decades back. Thus I can only pine away and hope for a PC game version.

It has been said that in the future there are some probabilities of having a FOG Renaissance, but by now nothing is really sure.

At the moment the only game I know covering the related period is that of HPS Simulations called "Musket and Pike - Renaissance" but it is more complex to handle and definetively less intuitive than FoG.

Bottom line is net profit.

If enough players wish to play a FOG digital renaissance game then SLitherine will probably design it.

I hope that SLitherine are making huge amounts of profit so they might be tempted to launch renaissance digital and possibly Napoleonics. Would like that and if I had enough time would prob buy both and play them as well as ancients.

I am in the same boat as jimkoby. Due to new rules changes in FOG-TT I can not really play any comps as I can not get the practice. However what also cheesed me off, is that you have to buy a new rule book. In the past you could copy, paste and glue/pritt stick the changes into your rulesbook. There are some changes to army lists in tt as well. I do not think we will need to buy new books though. As for FOG V2 (digital). It is taking a lot longer than everybody anticipated. I know that we have all been informed that we will not need to spend a penny on buying newer version BUT it is taking a long time?!

It's like a black hole. Questions go in, nothing comes out.
I'm more than willing to wait however long it takes, but the silence is baffling. Seems that someone in the know could give a brief situation report evert few weeks. 31st of December was the last useful statement on progress. I don't understand the drama.

I would also like to knowwhat are the present changes.
In laymans terms very simply defined.
Possibly numbered 1 to X

Hello guys,

I'm doing the last modifications to the BG movement code (movement manager/translation animation), so the next build will be during the next week.

Cheers,

Where is this thread? Did a quick searce of the forums and can't seem to find a "PC FOG BETA" thread. Shouldn't announcements of this project be posted here?
Well, here nor there, I appreciate any response to our questions. Thanks. I take it then that the release of the "New Field of Glory" can be expected in the next few weeks.

You can only see the beta thread if you sign up for the beta. And no, the Unity version not is going to be ready that soon. What Cothyso referenced is there is a new beta build that is coming out soon for testing...

I have had this game for years and I think its great... it certainly does not have the same combat system as FOG but not sure what nerve and funkilling rules you mean?
