Please note the following
- Battles are resolved simultaneously during a four-week period of May 15 - June 12.
- The defender in Conquests and the attacker in Raids creates the challenge, also deciding the map terrain for the province in question.
- All battles are 24 turns, 40 x 32 and use Remove the Head (i.e., the battle will end also when one side’s C-in-C falls in battle with that side becoming the loser).
- Only Aetius39, the current controller of Italia XIII, is allowed to select Praetorian Guard units in his battles.
- No map re-rolls are allowed.
- Make sure you have An Empire in Flames v2 module downloaded and installed.
- When setting up the challenge in-game, in Multiplayer Lobby under My Challenges, through pressing New Challenge and then Create Skirmish, choose Select Another Module, mark An Empire in Flames v2 and click LAUNCH. The factions can now be chosen for the battle when creating the challenge.
- The defender reports the battle result once concluded: who's victor and loser (if any), always specifying the incurred casualties and whether any faction's C-in-C fell in battle.
Enjoy! Any questions? Please post them here.

An Empire in Flames - Tournament I: Conclusion

by kronenblatt
With "all" his controlled (quite few remaining actually) provinces being looted at the end of round XI (280 AD), kronenblatt has lost all pretense of actually being a victorious and rightful protector of the Roman Empire. In accordance with the rules, he is thus eliminated by his inner "trusted" circle, who yields submission to Imperator Caesar
Aetius39 Augustus Jovianus, re-uniter of Rome.
The worthy victor is
Aetius39, having expanded patiently (and ruthlessly) from his power base in the West, getting rid of competitor after competitor, one by one, also guiding non-Romans in the raids and looting of Roman territory, successfully conveying the message of himself as the only one (there can be only one!) being able to keep Rome safe from barbarians.
In his final act of supremacy, Aetius39 sought out kronenblatt on the bloody battlefield along the Danube river in Moesia, slaying the unfortunate usurper in an archaic duel of heroes (or hero versus loser), much like Achilles did to Hector at Troy.
1a. Conquest: Aetius39 (Romans I, 1576 FP) attacks kronenblatt (Romans II, 1573 FP) in XV Moesia Superior. => Aetius39 defeats kronenblatt 25-40, due to C-in-C falling in battle (3rd time).
