The crusaders brought lots of knights and Pavissiers and crossbows and numerous light Turcopoles. I did not like the look of them at all and ran for the nearest hill flanked by a forest. This battle was all about the positioning and the timing. The Crusaders advanced to crossbow range in the centre using some rough ground as cover. One set of knights on their left flank were faced by some camels, light cavalry some light spear armed medium cavalry and a city Knight unit. As the crusaders were also supported by more pavissiers and crossbows it did not look good. The light cavalry came to the rescue and started breaking enemy units. The medium cavalry got in the way of the Crusader knights and whilst one unit died the others led the knights astray and into a cunning trap (really, I even planned that bit). As the crusaders rushed troops up to support they were caught in their flank by some extremely lucky spearmen. My centre was being shot to pieces before I managed to sneak a spear unit into their ranks in the open - that went very well and all the archers and crossbows picked up their swords and charged in. The battle was over just as the elite Templars arrived on my left flank and started crushing my defences. Another turn would have seen me swept away and flanked. Sometimes just charging in is the best policy. The medium cavalry take the plaudits on this one for being annoying to the crusaders and springing a perfect trap.
