Pool A Group 2
Triarii (Carthaginian) defeats Morbio (Pyrrhic) 47-12
It appears clear from this and the mirror game the Gods are not smiling on Pyrrhic arms.
Close and tense game until an unexpected collapse of the Pyrrhic left centre!
Latest standings
1. tyronec P2-8pts
2. Triarii P1-4pts
3. Morbio P3-0pts

First Time Control check is now completed . . .

Just to remind everyone that the first Time Control check is next weekend, at the end of Sunday 24th October. By then you are expected to have completed one match in every section that you have entered. Exemptions from this requirement are given to those players who have entered the Themed Event, because those matches have to take priority. I also have one player, Dreddradish, who has suffered a complete computer failure and he will receive an exemption as well.
I have looked at the league tables today and made a note of players who have not submitted a result yet in each of the sections. The overall situation is very good, but if you are experiencing any problems, or feel that you have taken on too many matches this season, then please let me know.

If an opponent still hasn't made a turn in over seven days by the time the first Time Control check occurs, would one claim a match under Rule 6 then, or seven days after the check (October 31)?
Also, is the starting date of a match when the challenge is issued or when it's accepted?

It is 7 days after the check. It sounds like you might have a problem match. If you want to PM me the details I will see what I can do to get you moving again.

When it is accepted.

by Swuul
Division D
Swuul (British with Vikings) beat Garokan (Spanish with Andalusian allies) 51-4
The map had two large hills with a gap in center. Seen from the British side, the left hill was a steep hill with rough terrain, and the right hill with woods. The British once again set up in a long line, with the medium foot on the left, heavy foot in center and in front of the wooded hill, with cavalry on the far right. It was assumed the spanish and andalusian cavalry would wreak havoc on either flank, so the medium foot was thought to rush up the steep hills as fast as they could, with some raw defensive spearmen supporting the cavalry on the right flank to harass the hostile cavalry. However, things changed quite a bit when it was noticed the hostile cavalry was held in reserve far behind the action, deep back and deep on both flanks. This allowed the inferior british cavalry to go all yolo behind the spanish main-line (who was engaged from front by the british heavy infantry) without fear of having angry spaniard horses in their butts. At the same time the Viking ally berserkers led the brythonic foot up the steep hill and cleared the irregulars and archers without much trouble. The spanish lines pretty much collapsed everywhere (basically just the veteran muslim spearmen (more than) held their ground) before their excellent cavalry had time to come to the rescue.
Thank you for the game Garokan!

Division B
lydianed Gepid 493-567AD beat devoncop Parthian 250BC-225AD with Saka Allies by 62% to 56%.
A humdinger of a battle which Lydianeds Gepid force achieved a deserved victory with two turns to go thanks to devastating use of his heavy Lancers and numerous skirmishers . The Parthians were grateful to grab a point that looked unlikely early on thanks to some sparse patches of woods that granted their vulnerable foot some cover. The Parthian Cataphracts performed well but the opponent was too good.
( reported by losing side as it seems Lydianed is too modest to report his successes
