The installation process is a little bit different compared to the non-steam version. You need the following files:
- Mss32.dll
- Steam_api.dll
- PanzerCorps.exe
- autorun.exe
- panzer_launcher.exe
- scenarioEditor.exe

Copy these files into the new created / unzipped Ostfront folder.

I am having a problem to get this file to download, anyone else having a problem with the verify boxes? I got it to work


However, I downloaded, installed into my slitherine folder and into my mods folder. I extracted into the mods folder and tried to activate using gme and can't get it to work. I opened up the mods folder and clicked on the exe 1.20 folder and got the game to work. However, the game is in German. I know this is a German mod however, am I missing something? Plus, how do you get this game running by clicking on the normal desktop icon?

I need English for the language on the mod!!! Another American only knowing one language-sorry

I couldn't see how to change it from German either, it was playable otherwise but as you say it would be better for lazy English speakers like ourselves if we could change the language. I've no idea whether or not the DMP guys read this forum so don't get your hopes up

The Ostfront Mod is in english and german language.
For the mod need you PanzerCorps V1.20/21.

Ostfront is not compatible to 1.30.
For the Ostfront Mod from DMP-side, you need only the main.txt and the panzercorps.txt to play.

Thanks for your answers. When I tried Ostfront, I followed the install instructions (copied below). The game works ok, but as with demyansk, everything is in German and I can't see how to change it to English? This is what we are asking.

Installation guide
Unpack Ostfront 4.12 (using 7-zip)
Copy the following 2 files
PanzerCorps.TXT
Main.TXT
From your original PanzerCorps folder to the folder Ostfront.
Run PanzerCorps.exe

This is my starting picture, after klick on "Union Jack". Than you can play in english.

Thanks again for the answer, but I already tried that. The menu changes to English but when I click on "New Game" the next menu and the game is all in German still.

On my computer work it in english. In HGN is only the first scenario in german language.

Hi Anduril, thanks again for your quick answer. I have found that in the first scenario everything is in German (including the screen you show above in English). If I advance to the second scenario, the briefing text (but not the buttons or tabs) is in English, but all the buttons, menus and everything else is still in German. I have tried selecting 1.14 rules and it makes no difference. It is playable, just a bit awkward as you can imagine. Thanks again for trying to help.

1. Identify "strings.pzdat" of your Ostfront installation (or in Panzer Corps DMP Ostfront Add on 4.12 mod) and rename it under "strings_old.pzdat".

2. As DMP says you apply their patch 1.22 in Ostfront (or in Panzer Corps DMP Ostfront Add on 4.12 mod if using GME) folder:

3. I hope you kept a previous version of the game when it worked before 1.30 patch (in 1.20 patch).
You just have to replace the new "strings.pzdat" file in Data folder of Ostfront v 1.22 patch (229 Kb 20/08/2013 stuck in German) by same file from Ostfront v 1.20 mod (197 Kb 18/06/2013 or 230 kb 31/05/2014 of Panzer Corps DMP Ostfront Add on 4.12 mod if using GME). So you keep the previous version for this file! So your ""strings_old.pzdat" file should be renamed into "strings.pzdat". Before applying the patch I played under v 1.20.

4. I am playing with Pz Corps v 1.31 Gold edition.
When using this Ostfront mod after having applied GME, it will show up version 1.21 but the game works perfectly with all files of 1.22 patch included (but one : "strings.pzdat", for this file you keep the old version).

When you download the mod the mod creators kept the "German only" version, they should update the installer whith the "German-Russian-English" version.

When I applied the patch 1.22 then the briefing for the first scenario of the first campaign (Army Group North 1941-43) is in German, but everything else (including objectives for the first mission, but the objectives do not exist on the map - there are different victory hexes on the map?) after that is in English, including the menus. The other campaigns appear to be in English from the start.

Unfortunately, I don't have the strings.pzdat dated 18/06/2013, the oldest I have is dated 20/08/2013, although the Read Me file says it is Ostfront version v4.0 for Panzer Corps v1.20.

I am using Panzer Corps Gold v1.31. Just to clarify - after applying 1.22 patch:

1. Everything I checked is in English except the briefing for the first scenario of Army Group North 1941-43.
2. The objectives for the first scenario of Army Group North 1941-43 do not exist on the map but there are other victory hexes not mentioned in the objectives.

Today I copied the "strings.pzdat" file you sent the link for into the Data directory. It doesn't seem to have made any difference. I went through the first 3 scenarios for each campaign (using the endscn cheat) to check. I can report:

(I've tried this with the "OF_v1.22 Patch" and without, it makes no difference that I can see.)

1. The briefing for the first mission in the first campaign (Army Group North 1941-43) is in German.
2. The objectives stated for the first mission do not exist on the map.
3. The briefing for the second mission in the first campaign (Army Group North 1941-43) is in German.

Everything else I saw (so far!) is in English and I did not see any other problems. This is much better than when I first downloaded "Panzer Corps DMP Ostfront Add on 4.12" and everything was in German! The add-on is now playable, so it doesn't matter too much that the first 2 briefings are in German.

This can also help:
Copy the english-files in the german Localization folder.
1. Copy all pzloc-files from the data-folder to the localization\de\data folder and overwrite existing files
2. Copy the data\briefing-folder to de\data-folder and overwrite existing files

I installed "Panzer Corps DMP Ostfront Add on 4.12" into 4 different folders (Ostfront 01 -04) as follows:

Ostfront 01
Main.txt and PanzerCorps.txt copied from Panzer Corps Gold v1.31.
Result: Menus in German, maps in German (airfield = flugplatz), 1st campaign briefings in German.

Ostfront 02
Main.txt and PanzerCorps.txt copied from Panzer Corps Gold v1.31.
OF_v1.22 Patch contents copied over.
Result: Menus in English, maps in English (airfield = airfield), 1st campaign scenarios 1 & 2 briefings in German,
others in English.

Ostfront 03
Main.txt and PanzerCorps.txt copied from Panzer Corps Gold v1.31.
OF_v1.22 Patch contents NOT copied.
The new "strings.pzdat" (from RobertCL) copied to Ostfront 03\Data
Result: Menus in English, maps in English (airfield = airfield), 1st campaign scenarios 1 & 2 briefings in German,
others in English (The same as with the "OF_v1.22 Patch").

As I said to Robert above, it looks like I am stuck with the 1st 2 briefings in German, but now that I have most of it in English it is playable, and looks like a fantastic mod (like all DMP mods). Thanks to both of you for trying to help

Jouer avec le module français ne fonctionne pas bien avec les mods.
Si tu désires toutefois lire les instructions des scenarii en français, il te faut modifier les fichiers anglais et continuer à jouer en langue anglaise.
Pour DMP, il faut dans Data (du mod) modifier pour chaque scenario de la campagne le fichier nom_Scenario.pzloc puis dans Briefing les fichiers nom_ScenarioA, nom_ScenarioB, nom_ScenarioC, nom_ScenarioD.
C'est une opération assez longue.
