This is how a legion could be organized, or something very similar, in a single scenario that recreates a battle.

I have already changed some values. For example, the testudo formation can only advance one tile, but it has immense defensive strength, while legionaries who are in the process of throwing their pila are as vulnerable as artillery in open terrain. However, this will require extensive testing later on. For now, it is Brennus’ turn.

Tests and experiments are always necessary because you need to balance them with playability.

Here is a selection of destructible buildings: A - Temple or temple complex. B - Roman villas. C - Ludus (gladiator school).

In addition, two new sources of income were added: ransoms for Roman governors and the plunder wagon.

Age of Empire remains a timeless and fantastic game even today, primarily because it can still offer new content and graphics.

Tobi, your 182*98 map of Sicily is ready !
NOTES :
It is a base version without special tiles from
March of the Eagles mod. Since you are still working on them, I think that it would be better if you put your new tiles instead of the old ones I could place.
I've also not placed any forest nor countryside. We don't know where were sicilian forest precisely, so I guess that the best is to place them (more or less) randomly ; or better yet : according to your need in your scenarii. If you don't need space for an open battle somewhere, you could put a forest at that place, for example. You could also add them if you need an ambush somewhere etc etc...
Africa and Sicily are closer to reality, to avoid a giant and useless sea space between them.
I could keep the map a bit more to replace all "modern" roads by "dirt" roads manually if you wish so.
Tell me if you want it now or if you prefer that I change things.

Hi Imeror,
What a gigantic map…
thank you very much!
I would be happy to take the map exactly as it is. I have never worked on a map of this size before, so this will be a great opportunity for me to practice and learn.
I once read that in ancient times forests disappeared first near the coasts, and only later increasingly further inland, especially as the population grew and shipbuilding boomed under the Romans. I will therefore place forests and fields in a way that fits the gameplay as well as possible.
The roads can stay as they are. At a later stage, I may adjust the corresponding tiles in a similar way to the forests, so that they are set automatically during editing.

I'm glad to read that now, I was thinking about manually replacing vanilla roads by dirt roads on all my maps! It saves me unnecessary efforts
Now that the map was send to you, I think that I will make 492 AUC campaign with the battle of Agrigente as main focus (6 scenarios planned), finish to play your carthaginian campaign, then I return a bit on Modern Conflicts.
Talking about carthaginian campaign, I love those guys :
K/L ratio of 657/22. I have 4 numidian cavalry units for only 1 war elephant, that say how much I like these units
A good javelin shower can make any ennemy unit weak against further assault by infantry, and even sometimes directly delete them

Yes, I also liked this unit during testing, even though I did not field many of them, as I deliberately wanted to test a mix of different unit types. However, I ended up with one unit that had extended range, which gave me a slight bad conscience for my poor opponent.

Starting with the upcoming update, there will be another new feature. Farm animals as well as wild animals will appear on the map during missions, not as independent units as originally planned, but as markers. Once the player moves one of their own units onto such a hex, a surprise will occur either immediately or one turn later—always with a positive effect.

So make sure to examine the maps carefully. Reaching these markers is not strictly necessary, but they often conceal helpful surprises.

It's getting more and more interesting ) Will it be possible to sell or domesticate this livestock and other wild animals?

Since it is markers, I'd say it will be more food to the camp (prestige points) or injured soldiers after an "altercation" with a bear (-2 strengh on a unit), or maybe secret things to discover

And after all, why not young wolves to tame ?
... Or maybe our velites just need wolf skins for their equipment ?
We will have to put units there to know. Surprises...

Here's some more information. I'm currently testing the penultimate mission of the Brennus campaign: the Battle of Allia. I'm trying to depict it as accurately as possible. The RomeCorps 0.3 update is mostly complete; I might just make a few minor adjustments to the equipment file. If all goes well, I think I can release everything soon. See you soon, Tobi

Exactly, these are markers, not units. Place a unit on a flock of sheep or something else, and a change will be visible, either immediately or a turn later; you'll find out.

That's great news!
Do you happen to know which mod these mules are from?
In the game, this type of vehicle will be very useful in the Balkans and Greece, Italy, the Caucasus, Malta, and Iran.
