16. B Cosae: Doyley50 (army 16, 1356 FP) versus Dreddradish (Etruscan, 1200 FP). Doyley 50 wins 65-56

A hard fought game the outcome of which was uncertain until the very last move.

Great game thanks, Dreddradish.

2 b game:

Aetius (Romans) defeats Dreddradish (Romans) 40-2

The smaller band of Romans didn't want to join the ranks peacefully, but couldn't catch a break fighting.^^ GG!

A GeneralKostas (army 3, 1239 + 30 FP) versus carpenkm (army 17, 1332 FP). GeneralKostas sets up.
Carpenkm beat GeneralKostas 42 - 4

Lots and lots and lots of Italian medium foot on both sides. The dice were kind to me and the skirmishers did well weakening units before the lines met. Once one unit broke and a cav snuck through various flanks led to the inevitable. Well played GeneralK - I'm sure you will get your revenge.

I'll use Epirote with Apulian allies for this battle.
SpeedyCM (Apulian, 1200 FP) defeated dim30 (army 7, 1400 FP) 60-55.

The battlefield, bisected by a large stream with sea on the right and hills on the left, gave the Apulians hope that they had a chance against the larger more heavily equipped Epirote army.
The battle started with the Apulian army advancing to the stream attempting to anchor their left flank on the solitary hill on their side of the stream. The invading Epirote army concentrated heavily towards the hills while refusing their own left flank.
With the Epirote heavy infantries employment somewhat restricted by the large stream the battle outcome hinged on which army could turn the opponents flank first.
In the end both flanks were turned at about the same time however the Apulians cavalry, outnumbered 2 to 1, with a small force of infantry in support where able to delay and distract the flanking Epirote forces just long enough for the Apulian right flank to do what was needed to claim a very slim victory.

Thanks for the great game dim30.

I'm sorry, guys: I've just realised that I've made a terrible mistake. Heracleia was supposed to have been defended by its owner, shane30, defending his own capital, and not dim30. Somehow I mixed the two user names up in my specification.

How can we solve this in a good or least bad way? (For example, should TomoeGozen replay the battle again against shane30 instead?) Again, my apologies.

It's true that my "mercenary general" did a good job with a result that suits me perfectly.... :)

Thank you

9. Volaterrae: deeter (army 9) versus Aetius39 (Etruscan).

Aetius (Etruscans) defeats deeter (Etruscans) 61-58

Messy disaster of a battle with lots of drops everywhere, we barely scraped by with the win; it could have easily been a tie or win for deeter if things went just a tiny bit different. GG!
